what do you think? I'd let the Long Fangs and Speeders pelt the opposition for a turn or two before letting loose the Vindicator from reserves or complete cover. Rune Priest takes Divination powers to boost long fangs. This list throws out 10 Missile shots and 4 LasCannons each turn then a Vindi comes into the mix with 30 Grey Hunters skipping about.
Would one or two Drop Pods make all the difference? I'm not keen on spending $70 on two Drop Pod kits...

Honestly, i play drop pod space wolves and i love them. I run 7 drop pods, 2 being empty, and 4 coming in on turn one. It is very scary seeing about 40 grey hunters come in on turn one haha. I personally dont like land speeders with the missile. I perfer them with heavy flamer and multi melta but whatever works for you. But it looks like a pretty good list to me!

Are the Flamers really effective- do they make a clutch move during the game? It seems an awful waste if the Speeder has to get so close into the mid-field to put a few S5 AP4 hits out.

I'd rather hoon the Landspeeders up and get guaranteed hits with the flamer. It's going to get glanced to death before you blink anyway.

Ya i think the flamers are worth it. You also got to remember, that a land speeder with that loadout is only 70 points. It is very cheap for the fire it can dish out. The flamer makes it more multi-purposeful. Some people do 2 multi-meltas but i like a flamer on mine just in case

My favorite setup is the Flamer/Melta combo on the speeders and deep striking them.
I wouldn't run Typhoons as separate units, nor would I give them multi-meltas. When I do use Typhoons, I squadron them up and keep them at range using the Heavy Bolter instead of the Multi-melta. Long range mobile dakka staying on the move so you can keep getting that Jink save.
Also, I don't think GW likes it when you list the points cost of each piece of wargear.

I find that dual Multi-Melta can really help ensure dropping heavy armor. Sometimes that one Melta shot doesn't cut it. I know it's not as multi-purpose, but dropping AV-14 can be very problematic for Wolf lists, and they get the job done nicely. I wouldn't go Typhoon, cuz to get in range to use that Melta, it's gonna die. if you want to run Typhoons, toss on the heavy Bolter adn stay out of range. They fall to small arms (bolter) fire if they get in range to use the Multi-Melta. Go one way or the other!!! Either dual MM, MM and Flamer, or Missiles and Bolters. Try looking into ways to prozy drop pods, just to test and see if you like it. Right now, SW aplha strike with Drop Pods is very good. VERY GOOD! It's either that, or mass foot-slogging with IG allies. Those are the two most competetive ways to run the Wolves right now.
