my friends have been telling me that i should get a new army and i think i should too, recently i have been looking at a horus heresy army due to their strength and size however they are a bit too expensive for me, what i was wandering was if there was an games workshop army of equal strength and size, in the past i have collected grey knights, orks and tau. i love to have a good background story behind the army and i do love both shooting and assaulting troops. my friends do know about the horus heresy army and think it is a good idea however they are too expensive, so they wont be afraid to battle me in the future if i do get it.

I assume you are looking at another marine army (as you liked the HH armies)?

i do not mind if it a marine army because i do love their play style, however i don't mind if it is not, i practicably love all the army except eldar, if it helps my friend collect necrons, dark angels and imperial guards so it would be best if they were competitive against those army like the horus heresy one is.

i do not have any friends with other armies except those witch i shall be going against and i do not mind if it is not marines because i like mostly all play styles.

Well, you don't have to use ALL horus heresy miniatures to play using the HH army list.

You could use regular plastic marines.

If I were you, I would concentrate on things that could ally with each other. You have Tau and they will be getting a new codex soon, so maybe build something for now that you will be able to ally with them later. A force of Imperial Guard that are under Tau allegiance, for example, or Ultramarines. Codex Space Marines also can't be far off from getting a new codex after Tau. Orks can also ally up with the Tau...
