So I was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to model an Icon of Wrath without using the usual banner pole method?
My idea was to make some double headed axes out of the WoC skull crusher box so that they had the mark oh Khorne on them and model them held up in the air or being swung in high arcs. would you think this would work as WYSIWYG? as there's no real description on how an Icon of Wrath looks.

Thanks.

As far as icons are concerned i have never made a stink about an oponate taking a special banner aslong as he had a guy holding something that looked enough like a banner for his unit. I think it would be a cool Idea to modify a banner specifically for Marked Icons but as far as rules are concerned If you have a guy holding a banner pole you can call it what ever banner you like as long. If it is clearly marked on your roster no one should raise a fuss over it.

An Icon can be modeled all sorts of ways, as long as it's visible and easily-distinguished from other guys in the squad. I like banners, but they're not the only way to go.

I would not go with a weapon; that's too-easily confused with other weapons the squad are armed with.

Three alternative approaches I've seen to the banner:

1. Mount the icon on top of the guy's backback, the way the sgt banners are on loyalists, or how some icons (like the Dark Angel ones) are in some squads.
2. Have the guy holding the icon in his hand, but on a chain instead of on a pole. Use a fine length of jewelry chain or the like. This isn't my favorite, though, because it means the icon hangs a bit low and isn't as visible.
3. Give the guy a shield, from a WHFB model, and paint or mount the icon on the shield.

Cheers for the reply guys, my main concern is with units of Raptors, I don't like the idea of jump infantry carrying a banner and I think mounting on the jump pack would look a bit silly, I might be able to give a go at placing it in a raised hand or something.
