Without going into too many details, he was going to a wilderness retreat for a few months. I think he'll be back in March.

The Chowders is fine from what I can tell from the facebooks, mostly because people were wishing him a birthday sometime within the past 40 days (purposfully vague to protect would-be stalkers

), and if anything had happened, We would indeed see a torrent of sorrowful posts.

Edit: Also I thought that someone was seriously trying to use Dakka to find a non-dakka member that had gone missing lol.
