Hello all, glad to be apart of this community. My friends have recently seemed to have taken up WHF and would like me to get into it. I have watched some games they played and it does seem fun but, I would like some variation of armies in our circle of friends. Warriors of Chaos, Vampire Counts, Dark elves, and potentially Lizardmen have been "claimed". I have been looking at Beast-men, Orcs and Goblins, and even Daemons of Chaos. Also, it has come to my attention that my favorite of the 3, Beastmen (followed closely by daemons) is extremely week in the 8th edition. I do like the Orcs and Goblins, but I don't like how "cartooney" the pieces look and wouldn't want to spend a butt-load of money on something I'm not THAT into.

I guess what I'm asking is what are your guys interpretation of each of these armies and how well they are portrayed in 8th edition, i'm also looking for kind of a class description type of explanation(brute force, magic, resurrection, tanky) for each army that i cant seem to find anywhere else.

Take a look at the WHFB General Forum - they do a pretty good job.

Welcome to dakka.

Daemons are far and away the strongest of the 3.

I play O&G and am still really enjoying it. More army selections than any other army in WHFB and can be tailored to take any other army on.

Beastmen are not bad, only their rare selections, which are all over 20% overcosted.

daemons seem really expensive. and their are barely any beastmen on sale for a reasonable price may suck it up and go with Dark Elves and just have the same army as a buddy of mine.
