I have been looking through the Forgeworld GK stuff and can't work out what they are for. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks in advance . . .

You mean the etched brass?

From FW:

"These finely detailed brass symbols can be used to add extra detail to almost any part of a Forge World resin kit or Citadel miniature – the smallest symbols can be carefully warmed and bent around shoulder pads, leg guards or even helmets; while the larger icons can be placed onto vehicles, banners or scenery as you see fit".

3-D alternative to decals. Clip off, shape (the oft-neglected step), glue to the model, then paint to, as the FW snippet says, add extra detail. When properly applied and well painted, they can do wonders for an otherwise bland model or add a unique touch to an army.

Something I did was buy the aquila brass bits and use them to standardize non GW parts. They're very user friendly once you get the hang of them and they look spectacular. If I had the option between decals and etched brass, I'd go brass every time.

It's an ugly planet. A bug planet.
