I've been into Warmachine since it came out ten years ago and still have a ton of the old "heavy metal" figures and a spiral bound version of Mk 1 Prime rules to prove it. Khador was my first army of choice, along with 75% of the other players at my
LGS back in those days. My interest started to wane as it tends to with my hobbies, and it wasn't until Hordes was released that my interest was rekindled. This time, it was the Skorne that drew my eye, but as often seems to happen with me, other things fought and won for my attention and I haven't touched any of my Privateer Press figures in years.
Well, I think that's all about to change. I believe I have finally become fed up with Games Workshop and am seriously considering selling the majority of my
GW stuff. Their despicable business practices over the years have really started to get to me, and some of the
BS they're pulling with 6th ed is the last straw.
Anyway, with that rant over, this means I'm coming back to my WarmaHordes stuff, starting with Skorne. I've had a Blood Angels army, a Saim Hann army, and a Khador army, so the first rule I'm setting for painting them up is:
1) No RED. If really have to have some blood on a figure, that will be the only exception.
2) Quick and easy(for me) so I can actually get something done. This means it will be a very limited palette of lacquered black armor(black with gloss on top), gold trimming and bling, and a Coal Black green-blue shade for clothing, robes, cloaks, etc.
3) Since I've dragged these figures around for years and several different moves, not all of the pieces have survived, which is mostly the back banners for a lot of my models so unless it's a standard bearer or maybe an
HQ, most of the banners probably won't be included. This is also to make transportation less of a PITA.
Without further ado, here's some pics.
First up is the cyclops I did the test scheme on:
Some of the highlights on the cloth leggings got washed out, and the figure is a bit brighter overall. I think it's a simple scheme that works well with the limited palette of colors.
Next up is a basilisk drake. I wanted his coloring to be close to the scheme of the armored humanoids but still look natural:
This pic has also washed out some of the highlights and I'll try for better ones at a later time, but it gets the idea across.
Tomorrow, I'll have some
WIP pics to post of pMorghoul and a titan gladiator.
Thanks for looking, and C&C welcomed.
