Hey guys. Was just wondering if anyone has any good techniques on how to make good looking Ash or Soot effects on their models. I'm curious because I'm starting up my Chaos Dwarf army and thought that it would look really cool placed on them and around their basing.

Any advice would be awesome

Cheers

Rather than go through and restate the wheel so to speak, I would say browse on over to Google and take a look at steam era model railroad sites. They have been doing ash and soot weathering for decades and you will find scores of different options for achieving the various effects and different materials that you can use.

They will also show you the different things on creating the cinders and other "stuff" which will work well on the bases that you mention (which are generally dealt with differently than weathering on the models).
