Hey guys,

First time posting on this forum and I am relatively new to 40k but got together a chaos army however I'm going to be versing my mate soon (who has dark angels from the dark vengeance box set)
and from going over my rules for the guys and starting to get tactics and army lists together , I have encountered a little problem with my forgeworld world eater dreadnoughts.

these two guys (which I bought cause they look awesome) don't seem to mix with the gw rules and I am confused for what I can and can't use.

Is there any Forgeworld rules for these guys I can follow? As seen by the picture of the painted one he has a Heavy autocannon, possible missile launchers on his top back, ( some of the parts haven't come in the mail but he will also be getting some sort of bolters on the bottom of his chest plate) and a chain fist. The other guy will have two chain fists, 2 of the sort of bolter weapons on the bottom of his chest and the missile launcher on the top of his body.

The rules don't even mention these extra weapons, nor the chainfists.

furthermore this review site has suggested that the dreadnoughts are horrible with the new rules (http://bloodofkittens.com/blog/2012/11/01/its-like-tactics-helbrute-review/)

Here is pictures of my army I have:

12 space marines (with optional melta, heavy bolter and flamer) 1 aspiring champion with a plasma gun and a powerfist (don't think thats legal haha so with probably just count as plasma pistol in game or just ignore the powerfist)

3 hellbrutes (2 I mentioned above, the other is the hellbrute in the dark vengeance set)

16 cultists half built with close combat weapons and pistols and other with autoguns, 1 flamer, 1 stubber and two cultist champions

6 ravengers (chosen)

3 HQs (yeah I bought one and the others were given haha)
1 is kranon the relentless (powersword and plas pistol) , 1 is chaos terminator lord ( not sure what his sword gun is? do I get any close combat bonuses with it? or is the massive sword part on it only aesthetics?) and 1 chaos lord with plasma pistol and close combat weapon

so yeah if anyone has answers to some of my questions would be greatly appreciated and also welcome to suggested troop choice and tactics against dark angels

thanks guys

Jimmy

Hey man, very nice looking models. I'm afraid the only rules I'm aware of for Chaos Dreadnoughts are currently the "Hellbrute" rules in the Chaos Space Marine codex.

Just for reference the "missile launcher" on top of the dread is actually a vehicle smoke launcher which sadly the Hellbrute doesn't have access to.

The bolters on the body would be combi-bolters you can buy as upgrades to your power fists rather than separate weapons.

So to have a wysiwyg pair of Hellbrutes, one would be armed with a reaper autocannon and power fist (Your chain weapon counts as power fist though you have other options in the codex but nothing Chainfist specific) and built in combi-bolter.
Your other Hellbrute would be dual power fists and built in combi-bolters.

By the 37 keys of Tzeentch,We open the way for our brothers,
By the 1000 whispers of Slaanesh we call to them,
By the 12 plagues of Nurgle we fell their enemies,
And by the mighty axe of Khorne we cut open the world for them!

Brilliant thank you,

kind of lame rules for my dreadnought have to admit, especially for my 2 powerfist one, without smoke launchers, I will probably have a tough time crossing the map without getting melted....

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also is that just a Combi Bolter on my Chaos Terminator Lord right? and it doesn't count as a close combat weapon also right? so no +1 bonus?

Thats just the way they model the combi bolters unfortunately no +1 a for 2 cc weps. The chainfist is a specialist weapon- even if it was a normal bonus cc wep it wouldnt confer +1 a.

As for the helbrutes, there arent any other rules than the stock 6e csm dex so your stuck with them as helbrutes. With a little work you can turn that cannon into just about anything really but i dont think many people will have a problem with the model if you say what it is at the start- plas, las or wahtevs. Theres a few cool iron warrior dreadnaughtie deamon princes out there if you were interested in converting one into something funner.

Also hellbrutes got faq ed even cheaper so i think there is prolly a spot for em somehow but i havent worked it out yet- i guess behind loads of los terrain.
