I play blood angels too.

I find that a Stormraven comes in very handy, a) for transporting your DC dread, b) firepower, c) terminator transport. And you're only looking at 200 points, I tend to take 2, as they cause plenty of damage.

If taking DC, I lays take Lemartes, re-rolls in CC are always a win!

You really need more scoring troops. One combat squadded Tac squad is not going to cut it. I also think you get more utility out of Auto/Las Predators over the Dreadnoughts.

Reclusiarch provides this too.

Or get a divination epistolary and get rerolls to shooting and HTH. And cast another power. It could be the coveted 4++ save.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I'll have a look at the points and see if I can get a raven or 2. I wanted to use the dreads as they're a bit cheaper and more manouverable (no snap shots). I know I'm thin on the scoring units, what do you suggest? Personally I hate Tactical Squads, too many points not enough fun. Maybe Scouts?

Thanks

well why not run assault squads? Quick, fast, deep strikeable and at least as durable through use as your tac squad if not more since they want to be in combat and not getting shot at. The plasma devs really don't seem to serve much purpose. The comni weapon stern guard are nice, but I would only run 5 combi weapons each as the situation where you need 10 is few and far between. I used to run 10 combi plasma wolf guard in rhino in 5th and there was never a target who survived half the shots and I would lose a guy or two to over heat. Also, the dakka dreads seem kind of meh. Hull points hurt them alot, but they are gonna take a lot of sustained fire power. drop pod dreads might not do to well since they will probably die to hull points. Never seen them used much save ironclad dreads who still suffer from hull points even at av 13

I would keep the SternGuard becouse you combat Squad them on the deployment allowing you to get the 2, 5 man Squads I also would lose one of the Drop pods on a dreadnought giving you the points towards a Storm Raven. becouse they can Transport 1 of your Dreads
Also the Plasma Devistators tho nice I would cut for the Stormravens as well and I would look into cutting 1 of the Sternguard squads down by 1 allowing you to add a Sanguinary priest for the nice FnP roles, They give my guys servivability they need and make them less of just a suicide Squad
Throw the DC in the Raven.

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

I love the 20 stern guard. I'd keep an odd number of DP's too so you can put all of them onto your opponent turn 1. combat squad when they land and you have the potential to run train.

drop the dakka dreds in favor of ravens, and add one scoring unit. all in all though I think this is a great list the way it is. Looks like a lot of fun.

Thanks for the more comments. I've got my dex handy and I'll be looking at the points in a sec. I think put the Devs in there because of how nasty they've been in the past but I think in this Ed in my meta you guys are right.

There's a reason for the dreads though, people will ignore them in favor of killing my other targets such as Sternguard or Combat dreads, and there's a lot of venoms....

Also I was under the impression if I drop to 9 Sternguard I can't combat squad.

Also I've heard that assault squads are bad, due to the increased cost and decreased firepower, is this just a 5th thing?

Thanks
EdO

Add in 1 more DP, maybe on the devs and just have it drop empty. That way you get 3 DP's on the first turn.

I don't like the Stormravens as a delevery system any more as you ahve to switch to hover to get the assault rule and that'll just make it a target. They are good anti-ai/troop gun boats.

You only have 1 scoring unit, at 1850-2000 points you should have 3-4 scoring units. All I have to do it kill 10 guys and in 67% of the missions the best you can do is tie.

Drop each Sternguard down to 5 man, they are a throw away unit in this list, you need more scoring, either Assault squads (which you could take in DP to give you more dropping on turn 1), some cheap tac squads or sniper squads.

The 2 fists on the DC is over kill as well, I think you might be ok with 1 fist. I've run large units of DC (25 men) and I only had 1 fist, 1 TH and a couple Axes. Axes are nice on DC as you get S6 on the charge and the +1 attack bonus for a ccw/pistol. They are also cheaper by 10 points. You could drop the 2 fists get 2 axes and 1 more DC for the same price. You gain 10 S6 AP2 and 4-5 S5 attacks on the charge and loose 8 S8 AP 2 attacks. It's a better net result. If you really want a PF take one the Resclusiarch, he gets it at a 10 point discount and can switch it for his Power maul, so you ahev a choice what to use in combat.

Hi,

Thanks again.

I've looked at the Stormraven, they seem ok and they might work, I'll give them a try.

Yeah I was unsure about how to kit the Death Company, maybe give them a Drop Pod too? Maybe bump them to 9 men and get the axes and what not.

I was looking at the Sternguard to do some nasty damage on the first turn by combat squadding, I've seen to done and it works really well. I could drop a squad and then I could take more elites.

I have noticed in our games that more troops seem to matter so with dropping a couple of things I could grab some cheap scoring. I was thinking about using Assault Squads and Scouts.

Thanks
EdO

I've used 9 DC in a DP with a Resclusiarch or a chaplain before. I etiher run the bare with bolters or I add in 2 Axes. However any smart player with either move far away from you or charge you if they drop. DC are very, very nasty on the charge (+2A and the re rolls on to hit and to wound) but they are just like regular marines when you charge them.

It depends on the armies you play against, I wouldn't want 9 DC getting charged by a 30 man boy squad that cost 1/2 their points.
