Thoughts? I thoroughly enjoyed the living gak out of DAoC back in the day. Curious if other dakkanauts were there with me.

Interested to see if this actually comes to fruition.

Without EA to screw them over it'll be decent

Though the market of mmos is REALLY getting saturated now

DAoC was very good, it still is to a (much) lesser extent but times have moved on.

The pitch sounds interesting, it is essentially DAoC 2, but I'm not really all that bothered anymore.

Its a pure PvP game and as such I have now lost all interest.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Some of my mates who were into PvP are very happy about that aspect like myself. My gal lost all interest when she heard there was no PvE.

Have fun contending with the juggernaut that is WoW, the number one contender in Guild Wars 2, The Old Republic, Rift, Neverwinter, the soon to be relaunched FF MMO, and ESO.

You'd honestly have to be a window licking simpleton to think developing an MMO is a good idea right now. C'mon...

C'mon...

? or as you so eloquently put it

This is aimed at a completely different market, it isn't supposed to be 'contending' with WoW. Aside from anything else if it does end up like a 'traditional' MMO it will bomb, just like TOR did. People are jaded with the traditional concept of MMOs, I know I am, mostly because their core mechanics are based around repetative actions and across the genre haven't noticably changed aside from peripheral elements since the days of Ultima Online. That is not to say that MMOs in general will not succeed but there must be innovation, not stagnation., EvE is a good example of this, still going strong after nearly a decade and it is a very different game from the usual Ultima clones.

Yeah if you read the info on site... Seems to be a pure pvp game. Leveling done solely by pvp. All rewards via pvp. Not sure many other mmo games have a similar ruleset. Even the original daoc wasn't this pvp oriented (barrin their pure pvp server mordred and the other one before it go consolidated into mordred)... mordred was like, immensely fun. pretty sure therea aome lame video on web somehwew my huddy made of us being lvl 20 doing but 3 man teaming lvl 50s who we catch off guard in town as they didnt expect playera 30 levwla lower to try anything. Daoc was the best pvp based pvp game I have ever played, (8manning was a blast. 8v8 loops Zerg farming etc) not to mention the keep sieging aspect. What killed the game for me was having to server hop to find the latest and greatest population to 8v8 with.

Pretty nostalgic stuff.

Don't see this being a competition to the vanilla mmos. Only pvpers will give this game a look. It's created for their niche market it sure seems.

I think the closest I can think of is Global Agenda

1 PvE tutorial part 2 world that'll last a few levels, rest is pvp

Unless we count MMOFPS such as planetside 2

Anyways this is a Kickstarter so that'll show how interested the market is
