Hello all, this is my first attempt at a battle report. I’m doing this because it looks fun and since I’m newer to WHFB and I believe it will help me learn the rules faster.
Lizardmen vs Dwarfts 1500pts
Lizardmen Units:
(my setup was a little odd because I only had time to grab a few units in a rush out the door and made do with what I had. I also didn’t know I was going against dwarfs).
1x Slann lvl 4, Life, Becoming Cognition, Focused Rumination (or whatever it’s called, the extra dice roll), 2+ range ward save.
10x Temple guard
Skink Priest lvl, Stegadon w/ Engine of the Gods, heavens, iceshard blizzard.
21x Saurus warriors w/ spears, full command
19x Saurus warriors w/hand weapons, full command
18x Skink Skirmishers (big unit but I only brought 18 so I couldn’t make 2x10 groups)
5x Cold One Calvary (I just looked at my list again and my points don’t add up, sorry to my opponent!).

Dwarfs Units: (I don’t have the dwarf book so you guys might have to help me fill in).
1x Cannon
1x Organ Gun
1x runesmith
20xish quarrelers (runesmith was in this unit)
1x Berserker? (held two axes and was on its own)
2x units of 20ish standard warriors w/axes shields

Deployment:

Lizardmen:
I setup with the cold ones on the far left flank and the skink skirmishers on the far right flank.
All the saurus were setup in the middle with the stegadon in between the two units of saurus. The temple guard/slan were just behind the stegadon

Dwarfs:
He setup in a big block in the middle. He placed his organ gun on my left flank and he placed the cannon on my right flank on top of a hill. Both were close enough to the middle to be covered by his warriors if needed.

Lizardmen Turn 1: I went first

Movement: Everything marched, except for the cold ones, they felt the need to contemplate the existence of butterflies in the semi-modern universe and instead moved 1” forward (failed stupidity roll).

Magic: (I think this was the only good magic phase for me, rolled a 3 and 4 I think). The slann casted throne of vines, then casted to add extra toughness to the lizardmen w/spears. Dwarves dispelled. Nothing else could be cast for me. Ancient Stegadon did the 5+ ward save.

Shooting: Lots of growling happened from the lizardmen side, some javelins were thrown but then had to be retrieved as nothing was in range.

Close combat: The cold ones decided to eat the butterfly they had been contemplating.

Dwarfs Turn 1:

Movement: The single dwarf character moved up to prepare to tie up one of the lizardmen saurus units. The rest of the dwarfs broke out the kegs and stayed put.

Magic: He removed throne of vines.

Shooting: The cannon shot at the stegadon and missed. Organ gun took two away from the saurus unit with the spears. quarrelers were just out of range.

Close combat: Much ale was drank.

Turn 2 Lizardmen:
Movement: Having eaten the butterfly the cold ones marched up the left flank. Everything else marched as well staying in rough formation.

Magic: Casted throne of vines again, attempted toughness spell and it was again dispelled. Nothing else was in range.

Shooting: Nothing was in range for me

Turn 2: Dwarves
Movement: The character paced around and waited for the saurus. The rest of the dwarves felt it was time to move out, then decided the beer was better and stayed put.
Magic: Throne of vines dispelled again.
Shooting:
The cannon hit the stegadon this time and knocked it down to a single wound and killed the skink priest.
The organ gun wiped the whole units of cold ones.
The quarrelers having been well aled up by now took down 2 saurus warriors with 18ish shots.

Turn 3: Lizardmen

Movement: The Lizardmen marched again and finally made it into charge range for the next turns movement. The skinks made into range to hit the cannon with javelins with the front ranks.

Magic: Failed to cast throne of vines with 3 dice. Magic phase done.

Shooting: The skinks attacked the cannons with 10ish poisoned javelins, one hit a dwarf in the foot causing him to fall on his beer mug, his friends executed him shortly afterwards per dwarf tradition (one poisoned unsaved armor wound).

Turn 3: Dwarves:

Movement: The character moved again to make sure to get a flank charge if the saurus didn’t make their long charge attempt next turn. The rest of the dwarves not manning a war machine passed out.

Magic: The dwarfs heroically dispelled throne of vines with a fantastic amount of dice and great rolls. The slann didn’t have the heart to let them know that in his infinite wisdom of the ages he purposely meant to fail casting throne of vines last turn just to make the dwarves look silly.

Shooting:
The dwarf cannon accidently fired their last keg of ale instead of their cannon ball. Thankfully they had a ward against such a thing and were able to avoid the resulting explosion and instead hit the stegadon with the cask. Dwarf ale being mainly turpentine had the desired effect, causing the stegadon and its crew to expire. 10,000 year old relic destroyed by dwarf liquor, check.

The organ gun crew blew the saurus with spears to small pieces, killing 6. The saurus however were not afraid of losing a few of the underachievers and pressed on.

The quarrelers killed 3 from the temple guard unit.

Turn 4 Lizardmen:
Movement: The spear saurus did their best to charge but tripped over all the dead bodies and instead ended up standing just a few inches away from an organ gun with a grinning dwarf crew.
The saurus with hand weapons would have needed a 11 or better to make their charge so they instead marched up to face the quarrelers and hid behind their tiny little shields made from discarded turtle shells.
The skinks moved into getting the majority of the unit into javelin range ( I couldn’t get all 18 due to the way the terrain was, in retrospect we probably should have come up with a way but I figured 14 would be enough).
Temple guard and slann moved up to get into spell range for the big one.

Magic: The roll was a 6 and 2. The slann cased throne of vines with 2 dice leaving 7. It then proceeded to cast dwellers from below on the organ gun with 8 dice. The slann was still chuckling about it’s clever play of not casting throne of vines last turn that it decided to miss casting dwellers as well for a real laugh with a total of 19 (roll 15 + 4) on 7 dice.

Shooting: The skinks felt the need to laugh along with the slann and couldn’t roll a 6 on 14 attempts. Luckily they did hit the cannon 4 times but they mistook the decorations instead of the crew as they normally target whatever is holding an ale mug and since the last of the dwarf’s ale was used to melt the stegadon they did not cause a single wound.

Close Combat: Nothing was in range yet but soon.

Turn 4 Dwarfs:

Movement: The character unit charged into the flank of the saurus with spears. The rest of the dwarf’s woke up, cheered their fellow on, drank a cup or 12 to his cause and passed out again.

Magic: The rune smith almost forgot to dispel getting confused about what was up and didn’t but remembered at the last minute and removed throne of vines.
Shooting: The cannon took a shot at the slann and having no ale left over to help with aiming they missed horribly.
The organ gun fired into the temple guard but as they were finally close enough to realize that really is a big fat frog in a floating chair they were a little distracted and only killed one temple guard.
The quarrelers fired into the group of saurus warriors only killing 2 as nobody had told them that a tiny turtle shell can stop a bullet.

Close Combat: The dwarf character unit having no fear swung for the fences against the huge unit of saurus with spears but was thwarted by being too short to actually reach the saurus and missed all of his attacks. The saurus responded by jabbing him in the head with a spear. Since the head is the least important part of a dwarf he continued on. The saurus combat reformed bringing many more angry blue lizards to glare directly over the dwarf as their bodies don’t allow them to look down while holding weapons.

Turn 5 Lizardmen:

Movement:
The saurus with spears were preoccupied with one tiny little dwarf.
The saurus with hand weapons rolled well and charged the quarrelers hoping for an easy victory against the squishy guys with crossbows.
The temple guard slann stayed out of charging distance of everything else and mainly stood around.
The skinks prepared more javelins and reaffirmed their targets.

Magic: Throne of vines was cast, toughness was cast and dispelled, dwellers failed to cast.

Shooting: The skinks readied to thrown and one person threw early, killing a single cannon crew member. The rest were so excited they missed every other shot bouncing a few off armor but causing no real damage.

Close combat:
The tiny dwarf hamstrung a saurus when it finally realized to look down to notice him. The rest of the saurus with spears stabbed the dwarf through the belly letting all the ale drain out. The poor dwarf quickly died of dehydration afterwards. The saurus with spears then overrun into the organ gun.

The saurus with shields and handweapons finally get ready to take their revenge on the squishy dwarf quarrelers after getting shot at for so many turns. Unfortunately the quarrelers instead pummeled 4 of them to death. On the counter swing the saurus learned that there isn’t a such thing as a squishy dwarf as only 2 two quarrelers died, the rest making armor saves. The saurus held due to the slanns leadership.

Turn 5 Dwarves:

Movement: The sleeping dwarfs could not be bothered to move so they stayed put.

Magic: Throne of vines was dispelled.

Shooting: The cannon fired again and hit the slann, killing 2 temple guard leaving him with only 4 left.

Close combat: The dwarves took a valiant stand of hiding under the organ gun and swinging at the feet of the approaching saurus, unfortunately the saurus has spears and proceeded to stab the crew to death. Not knowing what to do with the organ gun and finding that it did not taste eatable the saurus ignored it. This delay caused them to be unable to charge into closest rank of dwarf warriors and they instead reformed.

Turn 6 Lizardmen:

Movement: The remaining saurus with spears charged the standard dwarf soldiers with little hope of winning the battle. The Slann however did not tell them that as at this point has looking for a good escape route, he decided to stay put just in case.

Magic: The slann casted throne of vines and then dumped everything into dwellers below targeting the unengaged dwarf unit. It finally went off with a roll of 27. The slann croaked in triumph daring the dwarves to try and dispel it with their measly 5 dice. The croak got stuck in the slann’s throat as the dwarves pulled out a dispel scroll.

Shooting: The skinks finally got their aim right and finished off the cannon.

Close combat:
The spear warriors held up well against the standard dwarf unit and won a round of combat only losing one and causing 2 back. The dwarves held steadfast.

The hand weapon warriors lost the combat again against the quarrelers but held. The unit was down to less than 10 warriors.

Turn 6 Dwarves:

Movement: The remaining group of dwarf’s that were unengaged felt a slight breeze from the dispelled dwellers and woke up in shock, looked around and then laughed seeing the big turn counter saying 6. They decided to hunt down some more ale from whomever was left after this round of combat was over, lizardmen included. They then proceeded to make bets on how much the slann could drink.

Magic: The dwarves decided to let throne of vines go just this once.

Shooting: Nothing was left to shoot.

Close Combat:
The dwarf unit chopped the feat off of several saurus warriors with spears as their shields did not reach low enough to black the dwarfs attacks. This realization caused the saurus to turn and run for the hills, regardless of what the slann said. The squatty dwarves somehow managed to chase them down and finish them off.

The saurus with shields and the quarrelers each took one kill and drew in the combat resolution.

The big turn dice finished and both armies put down their weapons and drank much ale. In the after party the slann did accidentally eat the runesmith mistaking it for a large fly when it wasn’t wearing armor. This offense was forgiven because nobody liked him anyways.

Nice little Bat Rep Nick, thanks for sharing! Not entirely sure who won/lost, but it was very enjoyable to read

BTW, the 'Berserker with 2 axes' is a dragon/daemon slayer (a Troll-slayer Hero Choice)

I enjoyed the read, thanks

Love the line about dehydration.

The thing thing about any discussion concerning why orks did something usually ends with because they are orks, and noone seems to argue, or offer further questioning.

I lost(lizardmen) I believe but we didn't count up points at the end as it was my first game and it took a very long time so I felt bad about taking up so much time. It was a fun game . My next one I'll add some pictures and make it a little bit more followable.

Ahh OK, that makes sense. TBH, dont feel bad about taking up time, if your opponent is happy to help you learn and you have fun (like you seemed to ) then thats all good right?

I look forward to your next one then!

I would recomment having a look at Sneaky_Gobbo's Bat reps on his Blog, he does them really well both in terms of format and style (not that i dont like your style though!) and he does excellent work with BattleChronicler.
