I've had a Tyranid army for a while now, but they have so far gone unpainted. This isn't because I have not had time to work on them, but because I can't seem to settle on a paint scheme for them! None of the GW paint schemes have really moved me. Even though they look good, none of them have really spoken to me of a Great Intergalactic Horror that stands to devour all life in the galaxy! None of them looked alien enough.
Then, one day, I read a National Geographic article about strange deep sea creatures, and I thought a Tyranid army with paint jobs/conversions based off these weird critters would really seem alien. But, after doing some image searches, I realized that most deep sea critters aren't really very interesting, color wise. Mostly grey and black, some reds (at least from what I saw). It just wasn't fantastic enough. So, I thought about it some more, and realized that fantastic deep sea critters had already been well covered in the Cthulhu mythos, and there are already plenty of miniatures based on it, so I checked those out. Most of the ones I saw were just a 'blah' green, though.
So, I've turned to you folks for ideas. I think I'm going to keep the idea of deep sea/Cthulhu conversions, but I need ideas for a paint scheme. Something ALIEN! Something FROM BEYOND! But not just a 'blah' mass of green, grey, and black!
Thanks!
