Got a game in last night with Rich; Rich has been playing since October and is steadily learning the ropes and getting his Tyranids in order. I have played him a few times before, though this time looks like Rich has a nasty list together. I'll also be giving him some tips where possible.

Deployment
Rich wins the roll off and decides to deploy first (we agreed to keep to our table sides as my board is a balanced setup), he takes top left corner and I have bottom right.
Rich deploys the Carnifexes are the front with Hive Guard close to ruins in the centre and by his table edge while Flyrants hold back.
I deploy opposite Rich but far back, I deploy in my 'slowed Rhino' formation ( two rows of three) with Dreadnoughts behind on a hill, Crowe chilling in a ruin to the left of the Rhinos and both Servitor units hanging back in a tower ruin in the bottom right corner.
Due to deployment I have a nice alley of fire power which I can punish the Tyranids with. They can move through the shrine ruin, which will block some
LOS and give them cover or flank around the ruin so coming from the left and across, which is a longer route and with some adjusting I will just have another firing alley.
Turn 1
Everything comes forward with the Flyrants moving 24" - everything is out of range (except Flyrants) and runs closer.
Shooting; Flyrants up open and take out two Rhinos - one goes boom, though all Puries are fine after armour saves.
Unsurpisingly I remain static, this is so I can unleash 48 psycannon shots!
Shooting; Dreadnoughts dakka the warlord Tyrant and it goes down, psycannons then waste it. I am out of range for everything else, though at least one Flyrant is deaded.
* Tactical Notes
Not a too bad first turn; I have lost two Rhinos, which could be an issue as those devourers on the Fexes will soon be laying down the hurt. However those Fexes have a shorter range than me so I can dakka them as they approach through the firing alley.
Next turn I'll blow the last Flyrant to kingdom come and start nailing Carnifexes, this way my infantry will survive a little longer.
Turn 2
Flyrant flies towards me and vector strikes the Puries out in the open on the left flank - two die. Everything else comes forward, though the Tervigon and Termagants along with a unit of Warriors huddle behind the shrine which blocks my
LOS. A unit of Hive Guard and Warriors are out in the open not far from Rich's table side.
Shooting; Flyrant dakkas the Purifiers it vector striked and leaves a solo psycannon Purifer left. Carnifexes are still out of range so run towards me. Hive Guard blast the last operational Rhino at the front and break off the storm bolter and immobilise it. Hive Guard blast Crowe and he is instagibbed.
Grey Knights; once again I remain static, ze master of Rhino bunker gun line!
Shooting; plasma cannons lay the smackdown on the Carnifexes along with psycannons and both are dead meat. Dreadnoughts dakka the Tyrant and it goes down, psycannons finish it off. My remain guns are out of range so I cease fire.
* Tactical Notes
The tactic of 'everything comes towards me dies' is working well. I will have to move out soon so I have change of picking up the relic and I also need to tackle the Hive Guard, they are getting seriously annoying.
This turn has been pretty hard for Rich. I think his Flyrant model is cursed and his Dakkafexes didn't even get a chance to fire. I expect the Hive Guard will make up for this, well they already have as Crowe got splattered.
Turn 3
Rich spawns 13 Termagants and they move and claim the relic. Warriors, Hive Guard and the Devilgants bunker down in the shrine and form a massive 'Nid infestation. A unit of Hive Guard with Zoanies carry on flanking around from the left.
Shooting; Hive Guard fire and wreck the damaged Rhino on the front and wreck one on the back on the right; I now have two Rhinos left. Zoanies attempt to tackle a Rhino but the crazy -4 to psychic tests from the Dreadnoughts keeps them under control.
Grey Knights; shockingly I move out as as I need to get into those 'Gants and unleash the pain. I move remaining Rhinos 12" (pass dangerous terrain tests) while the three full squads and the single Purifier follow behind on foot. Dreadnoughts move up to keep the aegis reinforcement going and to go Hive Guard hunting.
Shooting; psycannons from inside Rhinos and Rhinos snap fire into the Hive Guard with the Zoanies, they get cover and one takes a wound. I do also instagib a Zoanthrope with a Dreadnought. Remaining Dreadnoughts take out a Hive Guard from one unit and blow away an entire Warrior unit which was in the open. Psycannons fire into the Devilgants to thin them out.
* Tactical Notes
Ok, I have lost all but two Rhinos and I should have got my target priority better and focused the Dreadnought which fired at the Zoanies at the Hive Guard. On a good note I am not far from the relic and I have units on foot, who can assault. I really should have moved Rhinos flat out instead of snap firing and used the Rhinos to block
LOS to my exposed troops.
Next turn I'll move up and assault Termagants and get that relic. I'll use Dreadnoughts and other stuff to finish off the Hive Guard.
Turn 4
Single Zoanie and supporting Hive Guard just float about while Termagants with the relic move out of the shrine ruin.
Shooting; Devilgants dakka one of my Purifier units and only two remain. Single Zoanie tries to nuke a tank but fails psychic test. Hive Guard blast one of the oncoming Rhinos and it is immobilised, which is good for Rich at this point. Hive Guard by the Zoanie take out a Rhino. Now I have no operational Rhinos left.
Grey Knights; all Purifiers move up while Dreadnoughts reposition. My plan is to dakka the Tervigon and hopefully take it down.
Shooting; single Zoanthrope gets wasted while supporting Hive Guard get peppered by storm bolters and psycannons, though cover saves are good. Devilgants get shot at and are depleted by a few. Autocannons rip into the Tervigon though I can only take a single wound off it.
* Tactical Notes
Well I am on the Tyranid's doorstep, I just need to kick the door down and take what is mine.
Next turn I'll assault with my units and hopefully get cleansing flame off, then chase after the relic, which isn't too far away.
Turn 5
Termagants with the relic move out while a new spawned unit moves in front of them to protect them, though Tervigon burns out, not that it matters as this point. Warriors hiding behind the shrine move out to engaged the Purifiers who bailed out their wrecked Rhino the turn just gone.
Shooting; Hive Guard who were supporting the Zoanthrope dakka the nearby Dreadnought, it loses two hull points and is stunned though another Hive Guard finishes it off. Unit of two Purifiers eat impaler cannon shots and devourers and die. Warriors blast the nearby Purifiers and two die.
Assault; Warriors assault the Purifiers and take a wound from overwatch, halberd wounds two and tries to do force weapon but fails - one Purifier dies.
I move the two units of Grey Knights at full strength forward, they will assault Termagants. Dreadnoughts move about.
Shooting; Dreadnoughts blast the Tervigon and it drops down to three wounds. I do not fire my Purifiers as assault range is touch and go.
Assault; one unit of Purifiers makes combat against the newly spawns Termagants and beats them up, the Purifiers do fail to get cleansing flame off. Other Purifiers fail to reach assault after targeting the Devilgants and are left pissing in the wind.
* Tactical Notes
I was hoping to move up, beat face in assault and then consolidate and attack again. Looks like I should have shot that unit I did manage to assault, though knowing my luck I would be out of assault range.
Turn 6
At this point I can see the game is firmly in Rich's hands, if I can kill the Tervigon Rich will still win as he has got points for slay the warlord, linebreaker and first blood.
Basically in Rich's turn the Warriors and Purifiers beat each other up and Termagants pile into the Purifiers and Termagants already in combat.
In my turn I dakka the Tervigon, it takes three wounds and passes all three armour saves. Combat my Purifiers kill Termagants though Warriors beat up my lone Purifier.
Game ends here and Tyranids get a clear victory with a total 6 points to 1 point.
Summary
An excellent game with Rich and his first victory against me, well done Rich!

.
I haven't used my Purifiers for a long time and the reason I used them was to see if they still 'do it' for me. I have my eyes on a Ravenwing army you see.
I made some mistakes this game, I should have moved Rhinos flat out and used them to cover my troops and perhaps should have also shot the Termagants prior to assault. I always forget about the vehicles moving flat out unless skimmers, doh!
Rich played well and hopefully learnt a thing or two with the tips and tactics I mentioned to him. His list is loads better from when he first turned up on my doorstep.
I am looking forward to our next game!
