I went to my gaming club and a guy wanted to test out his new tournament list to get some practice with it before his tournament in a few months. I happily helped out with my eldar/dark eldar and this is my battle report. It was a nice change fighting on a snow table, never played on it before.

Hope you enjoy.

Nice job. That hit and run really messed up those mega nobs. Wraithcannons are incredibly effective against stuff like that, and being able to let a guided volley of them fly is brutal.
I think you played fairly well, just be mindful of model placement to prevent interceptor from ruining your day.
Did you remember to overwatch with your walkers? Might have saved the last one.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

I apologize for derailing and getting in an argument on your blog. I just felt the need to have to set him straight because he did not know what he was talking about. Even when we present the argument in a clear and concise manner, it didn't matter.

Haters are gonna hate the intentional loop hole left for the Eldar/Dark Eldar alliances that are the re-rollable shadowfield saves. It isn't an exploit - it was intentionally worded as such so that Eldar/DE COULD use it. What's broken is doing it with 6 shadowfields in 1 unit in an apocalypse game.

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............ |

Enjoyed the report - your wraithstar is quite different from the one our team tested but shares alot of common elements ... nice to see wraithwalls doing well.
We used two scatterlaser guardian squads, baron, eldrad scatterwalkers ... I use a large GJB squad with farseer and warlock (eight total) as my mini-deathstar. My only DE are splinter/blaster warriors. The big difference is i use no flyers or skimmers at all. So my opponents heavies are going after my warwalkers only. They generally do not last past turn two, lol. But we expected that ...
We almost opted to use a wraithwall list over the beastpack list for tournaments- I think both have merits. They both wills truggle some against certain lists and run over others.
I think Wraithwalls are very hard to play ... when and if Wraithseers are allowed we can revert to a five MC wall - Avatar/Seer/3 WLs - now that would be fun. I certainly hope the new codex has some of these units.

Actually we tested a 6 MC lit in the belief that certain lists will have headaches trying to prevent at least 4 MCs hitting their lines ... hello 4ed Nidzilla, lol. There rae a heck of a lot of tough units on the board. The temptation is to use Eldard - he is a great force multiplier but fearless troops are not shabby either and the Avatar is a beast. The WG are the tax but fearless, conceal, and FNP still makes them potent. They are surrounded by T8 monsters (well one T7). The number shots required to take down all six is more than 90% of the lists out here can muster. But it is slow - painfully at times. Splinter Cannons. a D-cannon and scatterlasers help with range issues.
As to why we opted for a different list - pure DE poison lists slowly punish you. Necrons can avoid you and will go after the Wraithseer first who is not an IC and must therefore cast FNP on himself. Multi-flyer lists (stormtalon/stormraven) are tough as are the ubiquitous Heldrake lists. Even dual Flyrant Nids become an interesting match up. Biomancy MCs are no joke but this list has its weapons.
