I built the bulk of the army back in 2011 when their codex was released and because of a pending move about a year ago across country I had to place them in stasis. My goal with the paint scheme was to have an army that is very visually striking on the table top and I wanted to restrict my color palette. The idea is that the necrons themselves are a solid black and I would only paint the light that is reflecting off them from their weapons. The idea being that it would give them a ghostly ethereal feel and also represent what the army might look like marching to war through the dark.

The army is nicely done, but i'm a little thrown off by the OSL. It seems a little, er, overdone for my taste. It almost looks more like you've done a black and green pattern on them. The black itself could also use a little more highlighting, but that's also for my taste.

I guess you could say that overdone was exactly what iI was going for. instead of a realistic OSL I wanted it to look more like something off of a pulp fiction sci fi cover. very high contrast mono of duotone color scheme.

I think it's a great success! Even in the daytime, on your desk (or wherever they've been photographed) they look like they would on a nighttime battlefield. Very atmospheric and evocative. And consistent!

Aye, the forum rules for showcase are at the top and at least one picture must be shown. A blank OP with a link to another site is a no no.

Moving this to Painting and Modelling. If you update the thread with pics hit the triangle to alert a mod with the request for the thread to be moved back to showcase.
