I used to play the LOTR game during the days of the fellowship and the two towers book. so i have been out of the loop for a long time but recenty our group started to get interested in this amazing game again.

Seeing that i havent played in a long time i wanted to run a list by dakka and get some pointers as to how the game has changed.

Warband 1 = 170 points
Uruk-Hai captian with heavy armor and shield
5x Uruk-Hai warriors with shields
3x Uruk-Hai warriors with pikes
2x berserkers

Warband 2 *same as 1 Less the shield (or heavy armor) on the captian* = 165 points

Warband 3 = 115 points
Vrasku
5x Uruk-hai warriors with crossbows

Warband 4
Sharku with shield and on a warg
6x Warg riders with throwing spears and shields

I have thought about dropping the Warg rider warband and replacing it with Mauhúr leading 9 Uruk Hai maruaders who all have +1 point for either shield or orc bow... or mix and match to suit.

Thoughts?

Really nice list and I would keep the wargs. I cannot see anything wrong with it and its good to see you have included named characters.

I would have at least a 33% of your army with cross bows. A warband of 12 crossbow men and vrasku would be a good warband.

Only problem being you need another two warbands of men.

I need 1 warband for every 100 points?
Or I would need 6 warbands to get more crossbowmen?

I would like to add more crossbows in, but I am unsure what to drop. It already seems like I’m running a low model count and I want to keep warbands 1 and 2 a decent size. I could drop the berserkers, but I lean on them for reliable killing power.
And with the Warg warband if I drop a warg or 2 then it loses a lot of bite and becomes more of an annoying unit instead of a legit threat.

This was another reason why I was thinking of switching them to marauders with some bows. A little higher model count, and a few more bows in the army. While not quite as fast as wargs the 8 inch movement on the marauders is nothing to scoff at.

Also, what about banners?
I never really played with them. Are they worth it for Uruk-Hai?

The bow limit works so for every 35 men, 12 of them can take bows. I will post my army list up soon to show you what I use.
