I'm not. I don't seen them as an improvement over the previous boxes for Dwarf warriors or rangers, other than that they offer a spear option. I really liked the Grimhammer release (still haven't picked any up, but that is another thread), but I'm not enticed by the Erebor Dwarves at all. I think it is partly the paint scheme, and that the spear heads are so stupidly large (though I feel PJ is likely to blame for that one). Of particular note, the dwarf singlehandedly thrusting his spear into the ground looks really quite goofy.

I'm curious what they look like next to the older dwarf warriors. In the pictures they look like they're quite a bit larger. Spears would probably be a great addition to a dwarf army but wouldn't really be nice if the look wasn't cohesive. Interesting that they have six with spears and six with shield instead of some having the dubious two-handed weapons.

Obvious downside that you need the hardcover rulebook to use them at all, as well as a The Hobbit character to lead them (though if you could take Thorin I guess that wouldn't be too bad, and the Thror model looks pretty fantastic).

Obligatory "why do they cost half again as much as the older dwarf warriors." I thought perhaps they'd come with options to make one a banner-bearer, like the Knights of Rivendell, but the description doesn't seem to mention any options.

Also, what's with the dustbin lid shields?

Ol' Blighty

I would pick them up if they were actually unified and/or like the film- heavily armoured, shields and spears, not this leather and bare-headed look which looks fine for the likes of dwarf rangers, but not so much the basic foot troops.

I mean, look at these guys from the film:

now compare them to these guys, the models:

greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

They just look like the old dwarf models from the lord of the rings game to be honest.

Lotr sbg/Wotr Mordor army ~ - 2000pts.

High elf/eagle army (hobbit) ~ 1600pts. WIP.

Wouldn't it be better to compare them to the correct figures? Like these perhaps?

Yeah, but they don't have spears or shields either, which is what I want them for.
I am tempted to get those grimhammers and find a decent amount of dwarf-esque spears to make 'em like that, but that's the thing- I shouldn't have to.
Only one type of dwarf warrior has been shown so far, all of which wielding shields and spears. GW has released two boxes containing three different wargear options, none of which are like the ones in the film. GW, I am disappoint.
