Doesn't seem too tricky with the advent of fliers and allies. Guard and eldar allies, 8 or so vendettas will do the dreads in and some chimeras, some russes hiding out of LOS on turn 1, blasting the disembarked enemy come turn 2, farseer with his runes to get at coteaz, CCS with astropath to make vendettas more of a certainty, DSing stormies with flamers for the debussed enemy, seems like it would be easy to tailor a list against it, lacking skyfire and interceptor as it does.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

But Coteaz brings his own version of Interceptor to the party, its better too. Given the sheer number of shots there, your fliers are going to go down.

As for bringing it down; Necron edition Id bring Immotek, the Nemesor, and a Doomsday Ark. Not much can stand up to that combo.

His version is for units entering reserves within 12" if i remember correctly. Just dont fly within 12" on the turn you arrive, and my plan works.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Are you sure that Coteaz makes Henchmen a Troops choice? I don't have the codex handy but I thought it said that taking him means you can select as many Henchmen squads as you like which do not take up a force organisation slot, meaning they don't count as Troops which would make the list illegal. I could of course be mistaken, in which case i'll play the game. Here's how I'd tailor to beat you:

HQ

Ordo Malleus Inquisitor - 25

Troops

3x Servitor w/ Plasma Cannons & 3x Warrior Acolytes w/ Boltguns - 75
10x GKSS w/ 2x Psycannons - 220
10x GKSS w/ 2x Psycannons - 220
10x GKSS w/ 2x Psycannons - 220

Heavy

Dreadnought w/ 2x twin linked Autocannons - 135
Dreadnought w/ 2x twin linked Autocannons - 135
Dreadnought w/ 2x twin linked Autocannons - 135

Fast

Stormraven w/ twin-linked Multi-Melta; twin-linked Assault Cannon; Hurricane Bolter sponsons; Psybolt Ammo - 255
Stormraven w/ twin-linked Multi-Melta; twin-linked Assault Cannon; Hurricane Bolter sponsons; Psybolt Ammo - 255
Stormraven w/ twin-linked Multi-Melta; twin-linked Assault Cannon; Hurricane Bolter sponsons; Psybolt Ammo - 255

Fortification

Aegis Defence Line w/ Comms Relay - 70

Inquisitor and Henchmen hide behind ADL. Comms relay almost guarantees arrival of all 3 Ravens turn 2. 6 twin-linked Autocannons, 3 twin-linked Assault Cannons, 3 twin-linked Multi-Meltas, 3 twin-linked Plasma Cannons (Coteaz's prescience) and 6 Psycannons will make light work of your tanks. 24 Storm Bolters and 6 Hurricane Bolters will remove the space monkeys in a single turn of shooting.
You're tabled on turn 3, and that's if you get lucky.

But that's a tailored list, it's easy to beat a list when you've already seen it. Should you turn up at a tournament with that list you'd be playing all-comers lists, so here's mine at 2k:

HQ

Coteaz - 100
Destroyer Lord w/ MSS; Semp Weave; Warscythe - 160

Henchmen

3x Plasma Cannon Servitors & 2x Boltgun Acolytes - 70

Troops

10x GKSS w/ 2x Psycannons; Psybolt ammo - 240
10x GKSS w/ 2x Psycannons; Psybolt ammo - 240
5x Immortals w/ Gauss; Night Scythe - 185
5x Immortals w/ Gauss; Night Scythe - 185

Heavy

Dreadknight w/ Heavy Incinerator; Greatsword; Teleporter - 230
Dreadknight w/ Heavy Incinerator; Greatsword; Teleporter - 230

Fast Attack

6x Canoptek Wraiths w/ 3x Whip Coils - 240

Fortifications

ADL w/ Quad Gun; Comms Relay - 120

Pretty sure my TAC list would give you all sorts of problems.

I would use my ork list, I somewhat doubt that "cheesy" list can deal with my 120 orks.

As long as you included plenty of Power Klaws and Rokkit Launchers, i'd be inclined to agree.

Any flyer heavy list destroys this list. Tzeentch daemons laugh at it too as do shooty guard. The space monkey spam isn't that great it is all Bs3 so even with prescience that's only 16.25 hits a turn. Shooty Orks destroy you. Even Dark Angel Landraider lists roll over you as you do 1.35 Hull points a turn Where as he should kill 4 units of yours a turn...

And these are all just 1750/1850 competitive builds I'm thinking of. You don't actually have that much firepower and you don't have any staying power.

As for Coteaz + volume dealing with flyers. His rule requires I arrive within 12" so unless Coteaz is in within 12" of my entire board edge his rule does nothing. Like wise you won't be getting 30 lascannon shots as the flyers shoot first and wreck half your squads... You may be able to deal with 1-2 flyers max but Necrons and Guard would in general have between 6 &10 at this point level.

So what Id do is drop a squad get a quadgun and fill up your Chimeras with Crusaders and plasma acolytes. This supplements your short ranged fire and massively increases your Monkey's survivability . Then you've got a decent list.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.

Yes my Colour is Black but not for the reasons stated mainly just because it's slimming... http://imperiusdominatus.blogspot.com

He's clearly only taken Coteaz for Henchmen spam. His rules are rendered pretty useless in this list on the whole. If you really want cheese, double FoC at 2k points and use Coteaz, an ADL with Quad Gun and comms, a couple of MSU GKSS squads to prevent deep strikes outside of Coteaz's 12" cheese range and 6 Stormravens, then trololololol all the way to pwn town.

BS3 Lascannons on easy-to-kill space monkeys are much weaker than the OP seems to realise, especially when compared to the likes of Psycannons. For the kind of points you're looking at for 5 monkeys, I'd rather have a Purgation squad of 5 Psycannons, and I never use Purgation squads.

As a Wolves player, I'd approach it this way.

Chimeras will eat missiles. Pod spam with melta weapons will handle Dreadnoughts and any Chimeras that are still out there. If I have Grey Hunters in Rhinos or slogging, they'll mop up the guardsmen with Long Fangs hitting said guardsmen with Frag Missiles.

That said, I've never played against a Tortuga Cortez list. Most of the people I play who do Grey Knights play them for the Marines. If someone wants to play guardsmen, they'll play Imperial Guard.

Space Wolves: 3770
Orks: 3000
Chaos Daemons: 1750
Warriors of Chaos: 2000
