Changed the list around. I took out some Tactical Squads, added Vulcan, and added Snipers for backfield objectives and sniping models.
I also added the Sternguards on Turn 2 with flamers and swapped the Combi-weapon in both Tac Squads with flamers as well.

You may have had a typo. Talons have no transport capacity. Perhaps you meant Ravens.

I fixed it, but that's exactly what I meant. The points may be off now though. I don't know how many points the Raven is compared to the Talon. If anyone could help me know how much they are in the new book without breaking Dakka protocol that'd be great! Thanks.

What do you think about the list though? 5 troops of 10 seem like it's enough troops for objective games. With the amount of meltas in each unit (both Elites/Troops) can easily deal with Mech and MC lists. Also the amount of Bolters with Rapid Fire can still hold up against Hordes pretty decently. Hordes are extremely weak in CC against a standard MEQ. (At least from personal experience).

I might have trouble against Deathstar Bikers or units that rely on Cover Saves.

I haven't play a list like this, but I feel like my green tide/shooty orks would love to face this. I'm not saying that be an ass, or because your list isnt good, I just think after you drop in your pods and I shoot down your planes your left with a bunch of over-costed infantry that would get softened up by all my shooting, which orks love shooting at infantry units, and then charged and killed. I'm not sure your bolters would be enough, but you would have to play a good Ork list to find out. Maybe you could bring some more flamers? You seem to have a ton anti-tank, maybe even too much.

I always press dat, if you know what I mean.

I can understand what you mean about possibly not having enough shots. That's kind of what I'm afraid of. Most lists at my FLGS have mech. I don't think I've seen any pure horde armies.

At the same time, flamers can do a lot of damage, but I'd rather keep falling back and get more shots off then attempt to get more flamers in range. Basic flamers are only S3, right? Doesn't seem that good against T4 orcs anyhow. Autohits with no Sv is nice, but if they are smart and know I have flamers. I'll only hit 3-4. That's better than 1-2 shots from a bolter. However, with the option of 3 Melta shots per squad, every unit will be a threat to AV targets.

Thanks for the input though! I'd love to play against your list. In my FLGS, Daemons and Necrons are very common (go figure), with a few IG here and there. I feel like Daemons would be a pain in the butt to deal with regardless of what army list you're using. However, Necrons wouldn't do so well against the amount of high Strength shots I have.

I changed the list around. I think it might be weaker with the Scouts. Might consider taking them out and adding Tac Squads in Rhinos again.

Let us know if you get to play this list sometime and how it goes! Also have you ever tried vassal? I haven't had the chance to play drop pod space marines and now that I'm getting more into Warhammer I would to practice against it.

I always press dat, if you know what I mean.
