Hey friends,
This is my new "fun / casual" list. let me know what you all think please.
HQ (100 points)
Rune Priest
Troops (1010)
Grey Hunters x10, Drop Pod, Melta x2, Wolf Standard
Grey Hunters x10, Drop Pod, Melta x2, Wolf Standard
Grey Hunters x10, Drop Pod, Melta x2, Wolf Standard
Grey Hunters x10, Rhino, Plasma x2, Wolf Standard
Grey Hunters x10, Rhino, Plasma x2, Wolf Standard
Fast Attack (420 points)
Thunderwolf Cavalry x3, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Thunderwolf Cavalry x3, Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer
Heavy Support (360)
Long Fangs x6, Missile Launcher x3, Lascannon x2
Long Fangs x5, Missile launcher x4
Predator, Sponson-Mounted Heavy Bolters
This is 1900 points so far. I don't know what to do with the last 100. Sometimes I run an Aegis Line with a Quad Gun. The Rune Priest mans the gun and joins the bigger Long Fang pack to get utilize Divination's primaris power. Sometimes, I take close combat upgrades instead. usually MOTW in all the GH squads, and a Power Fist for one of the melta drop pod packs. I'm not sure what is better. Against IG the defense line is better. Against ids, Blood Angels, etc., having MOTW seems to do me better. I guess it depends on the terrain too. Sometimes I don't ened the Aegis line at all. If that's the case, I just use it across the mid-field to get soem cover for my advance (TWC's, predator & Rhinos with plasma hunters)

Well, a quick way of eating up 100 points is to give all your Hunter squads Wulfen. That's 75 points already. The last 25 can go to another Missile Launcher in the Long Fang squad with only 4 missiles. That's just quick and easy with no dead weight upgrades.

Seconded. Keeps it pretty fluffy and fun too.

Do you think that's better than taking an Aegis Line with Quad Gun though? From an all-comers standpoint. I know they are totally different, but it's nice to keep that back line alive!

Well, not we're moving away from Casual.
I think the Aegis with Quad would be a good addition.

The Rune Priest will just takes rolls on the Divination chart. He will join the Long Fang pack with the Lascannons and man the Quad Gun, if I take one. I was considering Living Lightning + Murderous Hurricane instead... If I don't take the quad-gun, I feel like I have a serious lack of anti-air. In general, this list is really fun. I deploy the predator in the center of my deployment zone (or straight ahead of my opponents main force) with the rhinos on either side (about 5-6" away if there is enemy blast or barrage weapons). That force moves forward ASAP, with the Thunderwolf packs hugging the backsides of the Rhinos. If they can't get fully covered from all sides, I just try t make sure I've got that one storm shield guy up front (facing enemy guns anyhow). The first 2 GH squads wit melta-guns drop to kill tanks or TEQ's usually. I try to drop the pods so they provide cover for the advancing tanks, etc. The Rune Priest and Long Fangs hang out in cover and shoot away. If the squad with the Rune Priest starts to get killed, he usually runs off and hides, in an attempt to deny "Slay the Warlord". Since rhinos are so easy to kill this edition, any list running them seems to give away "First Blood" every time they don't get first turn. I haven't found that to be a big problem though, because (like most wolf lists) this list is capable of holding objectives really well. Certain lists / armies are more geared towards geting those secondary objectives, and contesting the main objectives late game. When I play Eldar, I never try to "hold" objectives. I just try to get "First Blood", etc. Late game (turn 5) I just rush all of the objectives, making sure to get behind enemy lines as well. This list gets lots of draws / wins, but I rarely hold more than 1 objective late game. It's always coming down to those single VP objectives.

I love SW so much, "fun/casual" that can still make people grimace when you tell them what your about to put on the table.
I really like this list, I'm a pure competitive player and I have respect for this list. The fact that it's fluffy and to your tastes is really cool.

Thirded. Only have to paint one model to make the change.
If you're willing to do more work though, I would get rid of the predator and use those points and the other 100 left to bring your TWC up to two 5 man squads. (!)

Yeah. I could do that, but 6 TWC are usually more than enough support for the Grey hunters in close combat. I do have the models painted to play this however I want. I've got thousands of points of painted wolves.
The Predator takes a lot of fire off of the Rhinos and helps make sire that I'm actually getting the plasma hunters forward and the TWC into their threat range / combat. Also, when I do end up facing some low Sv opponents, that predator is nasty.

Yeah, two 5 man squads of TWC is overkill at that point.

Heresy! Pretre, there is no such thing as 'overkill' in WH40K!
But seriously, I hadn't actually read 'the plan' to hide the TWC behind the Rhinos and predator. Thinking about it now, it would be really difficult to hide 10 TWC behind just 2 Rhinos. So yeah, I can see your point.
The list looks dead killy and has 50 scoring bodies. I like it.

If you drop a couple of TWC and if you want to take an Aegis line with Quadcannon, put a Chooser of the Slain on the RP to add to his BS and it'll prevent your opponent infiltrating near him.
