I'm nearing completion on my deff dread, but I am stuck on how to add battle damage to the blue areas. This is what I have so far ...
Spoiler:

I'm just not sure which techniques to use on the blue areas. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have two ideas for you.

The first it to physically make battle damage. Add chips and damage to the model then paint accordingly (see below).

Or, if you don't want to take a knife and pin vise to the new model, simply find places on the model you'd expect to be damaged (edges of armour plates, large exposed armour plating, etc) and paint the area to be 'chipped' with black paint.

Once you've painted all the areas to be chipped with black paint, go over them again with a darker gunmetal colour, but try to leave a little of the black showing around the edges (gives better depth and makes the damage a little more pronounced). Finally, take a fairly bright metal colour and paint a little in the middle of the damaged area, again to create contrast and make the damage 'pop' more.

Sponge weathering/chipping. Look it up and you'll find numerous tutorials. The basics are dead easy - you can make it more complex (and tedious!) with manual highlights/shadows for individual chips, but even a simple once-over in gunmetal looks good.

Take an old brush and stab metal onto rivets, edges, and spots where it would get hit. On the left claw, drybrush metals onto the points and claw edges. Make sure these are big, since he'd be krumpin' stuff with that claw. After you've done all your washes/shades, re-highlight the damage, but don't fill them all the way, or else they won't look like the paint is chipping and exposing the metal underneath.

I was also planning on using weathering powder on it too. I've finished the skorcha and wanted to get some input on it.

Got the chipping done and have to do the rust and soot effects yet.
