Grugknuckle - I would take 5 squads of long fangs if I had them. As for now only 4 squads thus the
need for a dakka dread. At 1750 points I am adding 1
MoTW, 1 Rhino and 1 fully tricked out plasma squad. I am also not sure why both Rune priests can not have prescience so long as the other power they generate is different. But to answer your question as to where the second rune priest would go it really depends on the army I play against. If it is Nids he attachs to a Plasma Squad and moves forward with
JoTWW. Against anyone else it would depend on the Powers that he generated, but probably move him forward for psyker defense.
The reason you cannot both take prescience is the leaders of the pack rule AND the fact that if you trade in your 2 codex powers, you only get 1 rulebook power back. So, unless I'm mistaken, it is impossible to have two
RP's with different powers if they both have prescience.
I think you're using the term "need" pretty loosely here. I have seen many
SW lists at this point level that survive just fine with only 1 or 2 units of long fangs. The dreadnoughts have lots of shootiness and that's good, but they die easily and they cost 125 points each. That and you already have plenty of shootiness means that the Dreads don't really add much to your army. You should take what you want of course, but my recommendation is to select a unit that adds a new capability to your force. The long fangs give you plenty of shootiness, the
GH's give you the ability to claim / deny. The
RP's cover your need for Psychic defense. Who's providing you with close combat capability? Or mobility?
About the placement of your
RP's, if you attach one to a
GH squad, then they can't fit in the Rhino / Drop Pod anymore. That's all I'm saying.
