My friend was at wayland games-Beasts of war the other day and heard a that Darrell and Andy have or are going to be sacked soon. Apparently they will not be doing the Demons week Justin and swampy will stand there and tell you everything is good.

I don't really understand your comment here.

Are you asking, or are you hinting that they got sacked?

As to the gratuatous adverts on the site- That is par for the course on running that operation. That stuff they do doesn't look like they are doing it on the cheap. These guys have come a LONG way from when they first started out on just the bare bones You tube thing they used to do.

First things first, Where did you get that info, and where can I go and follow through and double check the info?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

I shall attempt to translate (though I really don't think it's quite as obscure as you're making it out to be, Grot ):

OP's friend was at Wayland Games where he overheard that two of the people form Beasts of War are getting fired or have already been fired. The remaining two people will be hosting Daemons week.

I then inferred from his implications a couple of possibilities:

1.) Darell and Andy were fired because they have been, at times, critical of GW, and Justin and Swampy are completely uncritical of GW.

2.) Darell and Andy were fired because they were overcritical of GW to the point where it detracted from the show and now Justin and Swampy are left to hold the reins.

3.)Somewhere in the middle of the two.

The comment "Has Beasts of was just become a shopping channel [?]" implies, to me at least, that perhaps the OP believes that #1 is likely the case and he fears that BoW will just be one big GW advert. Alternatively, if Darrel and Andy were the only ones who were ever critical of anything, it will in general become a shopping advert, not just for GW specifically.

I say this as someone who watches BoW very infrequently and was really only interested in a few of the model unboxings they've done, so I don't know whether or not Darrel and/or Andy were overzealous in their criticism of GW (or any other company, for that matter), or if Justin and Swampy are overzealous in their praise.

I have no clue how deeply Darrel and Andy are still in with BoW but I won't be surprised if they don't host daemons week. As far as I know they still live in Ireland and fly to the new studio periodically to record videos now; so they might not have been able to schedule in the trip. I guess they may have been fired but it would be rather surprising and I highly doubt it would be over being critical of Games Workshop. GW do nothing for BoW or any other gaming news site except hand out the C&D orders.

I'm a bit confused as to why being critical of GW would be a detriment at a place like BoW: they have several sponsors, none of which are GW.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense, unless they talked like how a lot of forum posters post (and I don't exactly exclude myself from that group ), in which case....

Kinda like to see a theme week without Darrell - his comments can usually be summed up as "this sucks because I have a Space Wolves unit that's better for this amount of points" or something along the lines of "this is useless, because there's another unit out there that completely neuters it"

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Screw it, Netflix and chill.

IF

(and it really is still IF)

they have been sacked/resigned it could be as simple as they tried the old 'pay me more or I'll quit' trick

Hosts of video shows (like TV shoes) often feel irreplaceable, site owners often feel different

Darrell an Andy are the best things about BOW.

I would imagine the "sackings" are more related to the recent move to England.

This, in addition to his accent being a bit too heavy for both my palate and the mic's they use.

Also, he is very sparse on doing research on the product he unboxes. The samurai unboxing for WGF were atrocious.

Aw man, I like Darrel. It seems like in every video he has had several pints beforehand.

Warren himself has been critical more than a few times in regards to GW. Both on the BoW comments and in videos including an episode of Table Top on Geek and Sundry.

I'm actually surprised that people like Darrel. He was honestly the most annoying thing about BoW and I'd usually outright close the video as soon as he showed up.

On that note, it's saddening to see people lose their job. I, and many people may not have liked the guy, but ultimately he's a human being.

He's not good at doing reviews, not by a long shot, he just seems drunk half the time.

I really wish they would clean up their painting tutorials, as their tips are some of the best. The outcome of their paint jobs (by Romain) are top notch but holy ****! are they long, painful and monotonous. Keeps on talking and commenting about crap that has no importance. It's like watching a cooking show where the host keeps interjecting worthless stories about their childhood cooking.

Chung (WG consortium), Scale Model Medic, Painting clinic as well as a few others have tutorials that are clear, concise and helpful. However they are done in a fraction of the time.

Who usually does the demos?

Because to be frank, their game demos are often atrocious, hastily thrown together, and often do more to make people not want to play a game.

Your friend is talking nonsense.

No one has been or is being sacked or let go from BOW. God knows how daft rumours like this start.

Now the move to the UK is complete there is a much larger pool of presenters available and as you will probably noticed the volume of content output has ramped up significantly. The guys that have to fly in tend to fly in for a week film all week and then that stuff is edited and dropped in over the next few months. I say that as if I understand the process but its all magic to me.

Darrell and Andy are awsome especially Darrell, i really hope he doesn't get the boot the guy cracks me up. Darrell is MUCH more entertaining then Warren, all Warren does is have cheesy jokes and talks over people who have more interesting stuff to say then him.

Guess if Wayland Games debunkes this rumour, it is officially debunked.

I disagree about Romain's tutorials, I enjoy listening to his reasoning for making paint choices as he goes along, and his commentary includes a lot of useful tips. Sure, if you're just looking for a "do this, do that, done" paint-by-numbers affair, you're not going to enjoy it, but I watch every one of Romain's videos even ones that involve models I will never buy for systems I will never play, because I still learn things. Frankly, since the guy that used to do the unboxings(I forget his name, he was a real WW2 buff) left, Romain's tutorials are the only thing they produce worth watching.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

Hmmm cant say I would be surprised to be honest. I always thought to myself how have GW not complained about two guys who often take the piss out of their game that they are meant to be promoting. Some points were valid and they were funny but yeah, dont make fun of GW, it wont end well.

Edit: Oh its been debunked silly me
