I'm reading 'The Tank Killers: A History of America's World War II Tank Destroyer Force' by Harry Yeide right now and I just came across an account of a unit of Towed Anti-Tank guns being largely responsible for defeating a large German tank force counter attack around the time of operation Cobra. It was fascinating IMO.

Does anyone know if in the plethora of FoW lists do any exist that focus on Towed Anti-Tank gun units as primary combat platoons? I found the US self-propelled list but can find nothing for towed units.

Thanks!

Well you could do a rifle company list with an anti-tank platoon with 57mm and a Towed Tank Destroyer Platoon of 3" guns... I don't think there is any list that allows you to take more of them but it could work.

I think I remember one list that could take 2 towed tank destroyer platoons (3 inch guns), I dont know which one though

Edit

Ah I remember one list

The Tank Destroyer company.....

So your combat platoons would be mobile tank destroyers and you can take 2 platoons of towed tank destroyers.....

Well anything under a King Tiger/IS2 might not like you thats for sure!

And I now remember a more reasonable list, the infantry company (or at least the one from devils charge, cant remember if the others had this). Can take 2 anti tank platoons, 2 towed tank destroyer platoons, 2 roadblock strong points which can take 1 3inch gun (though in a gun pit), Heavy Anti Aircraft Platoon (90mm guns), and of course 3 artillery batteries (one of which can be a provisional field artillery battery which uses german anti tank guns including the fearsome 8.8 PaK 43 and another can be a 155mm guns or long toms battery). Is that enough anti tank guns?

OP, I believe you are referring to the 607th.
This pdf has after action reports for the combat outside Chambois. It was a brutal massacre of German tanks and troops attempting to escape the Falaise pocket. There's a screen shot of the casualty summary below

There are more pdfs on the units page here

OP. Good choice in reading material. Read that one a few years back and did give me a few ideas when it came down to how TD’s where originally envisioned and how they ended up actually operating in Europe.

You can make your own using "Battles Fronts Support Company Rules".

E.g. Pick a list that has what you want as a Support option and you can then change the Combat Platoons etc to be that Support option using the following Rules:-

http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=3636

"Turning the Tide - D DAY pg 230 - INFANTRY COMPANY 1st ID - Conf Veteran" If you take this list and use the Support Company rules to swap out the Combat Platoons for the TOWED AT 3" AT Guns. You can get 4 Full AT Platoons for 800pts, then you have lot of options to round out your force.

Two things to watch, Firstly don't go to over the top with AT, you will own Tank forces, but against Infantry or Recce Lists you will get crucified so you need some Balance and some other options. Secondly you do realise this force will cost an arm and leg, this amount of AT Guns and their extra's like Jeeps will soon become very expensive.
