"direct shot"?

On what page of the rulebook does it use this phrase?

Last I checked, units with weapons with the barrage rule use the rules for barrage weapons. I don't see anything in those rules that refers to modes of fire.

What do the barrage rules say about minimum ranges?

Yes you can fire within the minimum range of the basilisk

but if you look on pg 34,
"barrage weapons can fire indirectly. this means they can fire at a unit that they do not have line of sight to and/or

a target that is within the weapon's minimum range (if it has one)

when firing indirectly, the ballistic skill of the firer is not subtracted"

so yes, you can fire a barrage weapon indirectly, or directly and both fire methods follow the barrage rules,
indirect you just dont get to - BS from scatter
