Sadly I was the only one interested in A&A Naval minis in my gaming group. The rules were a bit on the simple side and it looked like it was dice bucket fest, but the look was stellar and felt like it made for a fast light game. On an odd note, I sold a good chunk of my collection for a very decent price - apparently there's some insane value to some of the battleships and carriers.

I have never played it. The game came out long after I had already bought plenty of 1/3000 scale model ships.
The ships could be easily used with any naval rules, of course, however the "collectable" nature of buying them makes some of them very expensive. For example, the Nelson is a "rare" and costs about $10 if you can find it. That means if you want to play specific fleets it can be difficult.
A couple of starter packs or booster sets might be a good way to get small, fairly random fleets for playing cruiser and destroyer actions.

I played a few times with a friend of mine using my collection. It was a fun game and was fairly fast paced game. It was also neat to have the cards giving the history of the ships.
1/3000 scale? I've never encountered that scale before. Is it 15mm or smaller?

A 15mm Sherman (which I conveniently had within arm's length) is a bit longer than 2 inches. With 'Micro armor' - 1:285/1:300 scale- a tank the size of an M1A1 Abrams is about an inch long. 1:3000 scale is 10 times smaller.

Naval games tend to use very different scales than land games.
Lot's of open space, long ranges, and big ships make that a necessity.

A 1/3000 scale battleship is about 1.5-2 inches long.
Naval gunfire has a huge range. At the Battle of Jutland the firing started at a range of about 20,000 yards.
Large fleet actions have to be played on a large floor.

Its a shame that these sorts of games don't take off very much. The rules are fairly straight forward and its pretty neat when you get a good game going. I got some decent ships in some of the first boxes I picked up. I managed to get USS Alaska, USS Arizona, and USS North Carolina. I found it kinda ironic considering that I was only bout an hours drive from visiting the actual battleship North Carolina.
