I am looking to start playting necrons but want to have a good list built beforeI begin purchasing. This is what I have so far. Total Points is 1975

Footslogging lychguard is a good way to get them killed.
I would take Obyron instead to ghostwalk mantle them to the enemy, and I'd run 1 10 man squad if your heart is set on them, more survivable. Add an orb lord for an exceptionally hard to kill unit.
I'd also try and find a way to add another 5 immortals to the unit, and i'd suggest the tesla carbines, I would swear by them.

Hmmm, good advice, I love the lych guard after watching my buddyroll over a chaos player with them

Think of lychguard as an "all or nothing" unit- you either throw tons of points at em to make em dead 'ard, or just don't bother with them.

I'd probably drop the scarabs in favor of 5 more immortals- whatever weapon floats your boat is fine by me.

But yeah, as it stands, your lychguard are massive point sinks that are only going to pay off if you a) sink MORE points into em or b) drop em and spend the 425 you save elsewhere. General advice for running lychguard is - squads of 10- always, transport of some kind, either use your mono to get that extra 6" of movement, get obyron or a veiltek to teleport for a turn 2 charge, or a night scythe only if you don't mind them not attacking till turn 3 (and you do mind), always run em with an orb, because each lychguard that doesn't die because you rolled a 4 pays for the orb + 10/15 extra points, and last but not least, if you run shieldguard, make sure they got scythes in the squad, and if you run scytheguard, get some meaty invul saves to run up front.

I usually run my lychguard in a 910 point monsterblob that always lives to see the end of the game, but I can't in good faith advise ANYONE to make a 910 pt deathstar

Haha, Good advice mate. I was planning on dropping the scarabs, just they are good to tie up a unit in CC, so I guess I have to choose between ranged power with immortals and dropping a sacraficial CC unit. As for the lychguard, I will prob drop one squad, add a lord to the other and stick them into a night scythe to send them in as a HQ hit squad or such

just remember- lychguard in a scythe will either get charged turn 2 or don't do anything till turn 3. That's 200+ points of nothing till tun 3. If you can, get zahndrek or anrakyr to give them counter-attack.

There are plenty of ways of building strong lists but if its purely from a competitive perspective then don't look further then flyer spam, necrons are vicious when they run numerous fliers and three at 2k is just poor
