I am trying to get into my Black Templars again. I was thinking about getting a Land Raider Crusader to get my assault terminators forward, and I ran into an issue with the transport capacity.

Terminators are bulky, so they take 2 slots where normal space marines take 1.
Transports can take a whole unit AND/OR as many Independent Characters.
Black Templar Codex states the Land Raider Crusader can take 15 space marines or 8 terminators.

So is it possible to take this combination:
6 Assault Terminators
1 Marshal in Terminator Armour
1 Master of Sanctity without Terminator Armor
1 Emperor's Champion without Terminator Armor

My logic is that you have 7 terminators there, and 2 non termies...which by transport laws would "make up" that 8th terminator seat.

Any opinions?

You can take 15 spacemarines OR 8 terminators. You cannot suddenly create an additional space to take 16 models worth in there

You can take 7 terminators (14 spaces) plus 1 non-terminator PA / AA character, or any other combination that adds up to 15, OR you can take 8 terminator armoured models, which could be a 5 man squad plus 3 terminator armoured ICs

Why oh why couldn't they just leave it at LRCs have 16 spaces...it makes so much more sense that way. 15 normal seats or 8 terminator seats so its like a 15...but really 16 slot transport.
Since I am getting a little bit of both I will leave it up to my opponent and just take or leave the chaplain depending on what they say.

Do you have the ability to take a Land Raider Redeemer? They have a capacity of 16.

Isaean - because BT had the first crusaders, and at the time they thought 15 spaces was enough. It was only later codexes that changed the capacity to 16

Yes. And I'm 95% sure - although you can never tell with GW - that when they finally give you an updated codex that you'll get the 16 spaces you desire.

If we're talking about LRC, then my GK codex is way different. Mine says, "LRCs have a transport capacity of sixteen models." This means that, since the Termies are Bulky, seven of them would take up 14 spaces, leaving 2 more spaces. That would be one more Terminator, or two things w/o the Bulky rule.

I can put 5 Paladins, Draigo, a Termie Libby, and Coteaz and a Techmarine in one LRC.

Yes, however we're talking about LRC from the black templar codex. As the OP stated.

I even pointed out later on that following codexes changed the transport capacity.

Anyone have access to the FAQs for BTs right now? I am at work and cank look at it. my latest FAQ version is only the first since 6th.

Page 34 – Sword Brethren Terminator Assault Squad, Transport. Change the first sentence to read: “A Terminator Squad which numbers eight models or less may select a Land Raider Crusader as a Dedicated Transport”.
