Hi all,
I've been using The Army Painter angel green spray to basecoat my dark angels, and finding that until a black wash is applied over it, they look too blue - a kind of deep sea blue green. I tried spraying over black but that accentuated it horribly - has anyone else found this?
Cheers,
Max

Trying spraying the green over a layer of black.
I know army painter is a primer and paint all in the one, but the black layer underneath should darken the tone of the green paint, and might make it come out a bit more how you want it.

Thanks for replying, but if you read the OP you'll see I've tried this, and it was worse!

Ah sorry i thought you sprayed black over it... I misread that.
However, I don't see how you managed to make it lighter with a black undercoat....
The thing I think that could be the problem is these sprays are formulated to be used with the quickshade afterwards. So it would be lighter to account for the use of the DARK quickshade after.
I think you are just going to have to do the wash, or find another range of spray paints and use them if the colour is truer.

No the moral of the story is always use a single test model.
If spraying over black is just making it worse then the paint might not be mixed properly, I'm going to go ahead and assume you've been shaking it before using it but maybe you need to take that to a whole other level.

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

Yes, you're all right about the single test model - oops. I just get over excited when there's a weather window suitable for spraying! I have an airbrush, and paints, but nowhere indoors to use them safely :( I am a man in desperate need of a garage. Yes, I shake thoroughly before use, and follow the instructions. I think Winter may have hit the nail on the head with the quikshade comment, so they're all going to need a dark wash to start with. Damn
