I haven't heard anything about Chaos Furies in the new codex - are they any good? What piqued my interest is that they can now become dedicated to specific Chaos Gods - I assume this grants them the 'daemons of' special rule?

Just wondering because I was considering adding some converted Furies to my WIP Khorne army by adding Maxmini wings to Ungor Beastmen but wasn't sure if it was worth the effort.

They are dirt cheap on points (slightly more then a guardsman) but if you lose a combat with them, you can kiss them goodbye due to Daemonic instability and their low leadership score.

I think they're a suicide roadbump unit. They only have an LD of 2 so they will almost assuredly be destroyed as soon as they get into close combat.

Have them and a second unit assault together so that the enemy unit has to waste their overwatch on a really crappy unit, letting your actually decent unit charge in without danger.

As mentioned, their biggest advantage is that they are dirt cheap.

They also move very fast. This allows you to use them for late game contesting.

They can take marks too, haven't really considered the ramifications of that, they may be nasty but get overlooked because of their crappy LD (and crappier models!)

They're 125 pts for 20, they are jump infantry and hit as hard as Marines. If they get shot, great. Your opponent is wasting firepower on 6-pt Fearless models. If not, also great, 40 S4 attacks can mop up depleted enemy units.

I must have overlooked, where does it say they are fearless?

Hmmm, make them rending and crazy fast for 2 pts a model?

Tempting...

They need to make furies or harpies in plastic, don't care which one as they are interchangeable for the most part.

This. They're very fast and good in HTH for the points, they never run away (although they will lose to good HTH units and lose models FAST; they bully the crap out of small enemy units), and they can contest objectives (or score in The Scouring). And they're dirt cheap.

I'm happy to see Furies good again. They were the first daemons I fielded in my Fallen army, back when I used the Word Bearers rules (so I could have a Dark Apostle for my not-Interrogator-Chaplain), back in the 3.5 codex, and they were awesome back then.
