Hi All,

new to dakka dakka, long time stalker , first time poster....

recenetly got back into 40k for 6th Edition. dusted off the old WAAAGH!! and have been having a great time.

just wanted your thoughts on some proxies im thinking of doing.

1. all my loota/burna kits i made into burnaz a few years back , have never used lootas before ( i know i should). probably ok to proxy burnas for lootas?

2 . Big mek with KFF - have never used a Shokk attack gun so would like to proxy this aswell?

3. take the kannons off my battlewagon and use them as lobbas?

im usually not a fan of proxies , have always used WYSIWYG - but since being back into 40k , proxies seem more prominent than ever.....

but would these be fair to change for friendly games?

Talk to the guys you're going to play against and ask for their permission.

Asking random people on the internet that you will never see and who could be thousands of miles away for permission doesn't mean jack at the FLGS unfortunately.

Best way to do so is just say "hey, I'm just getting back into the game, and the game has changed a lot. I need to try some stuff out to figure out which way to take my army. Would you mind if I proxy a couple of things?"

Whatever you do though, keep everything CONSISTENT. Aka, if you're going to use burnas as lootas, every burna on the table better be a loota. Don't say "these burnas are lootas, but these burnas are actually burnas."

Same as above and then if you like how the proxies work make an effort to try and then get the actual models as soon as so then your not proxying for weeks on end, means you then get the actual representation of the model and the guys down the shop/club won't start getting pissy that your constantly proxying and they will likely be more understanding if you ever want to proxy anything else in the future cos they know it'll only happen once or twice before you decide you don't like the model/unit or actually buy them! Then everyone's happy!

It is almost scary how close that is to the EXACT wording/subjects that I would have used/addressed.

No one in a friendly game should ever give you crap for some minor proxy-ing like you describe. However, I wouldn't attempt to take that to tourneys. Mostly because it's unfair to people who DO abide by the WYSIWYG rules in most tourneys.

Personally I would be fine with playing someone proxying and like above just ask, I doubt anyone would mind though. And as an Ork player you should use lootas and Shokk attack Mek (although I roll double 1's with shokk attack waaaaaay too much), they are generally very good. I take a squad of 15 lootas which has proven it's worth many times.
