I am considering collecting a Necron army and found a couple of guys local to me that have some for sale.
One of the guys has 20 part built necron warriors as part of the bundle he wants to sell (the other guy has 45 painted ones so I wouldn't be short on warriors).
What I am wondering is, to save a bit of money, could I buy two boxes of Immortals/Deathmarks which would be built as the Deathmarks and then use the Gauss Blaster & Tesla Carbine models on the warriors to create two units of Immortals without having to buy extra kits?
1. Is this possible (i.e. will all the parts line up properly)?
2. Would anyone complain if playing against it due to WYSIWIG issues?

I don't know how the kits are set up (I've never built Necrons), but the WYSIWYG issue can be avoided with magnets. For shoulders, you're going to want 1/16"x1/32" discs (sorry if you're not from the US... I don't know the metric conversion), and those would possibly also work in the hands if you need.

Dont see why anyone would complain about warriors used as immortals, you'd have to monkey about with the pipework on the guns a bit as I dont think warriors have a tube coming off the back, could be wrong tho as I dont have any!

If you got the arms off the warriors you could build death marks and immortals with what is given to you in the immortals box. You just need the bodies.

I wouldn't have a problem with it.
I would think the warrior bodies (size-wise) woudl be better suited to Deathmarks than Immortals, but that's just my opinion.

I would agree with Praxiss that Deathmarks are more suited to the warrior bodies than Immortals due to the stealthy side of the unit, but the only problem with that is like I said I have 20 warriors that I don't need to build as warriors and I don't want 20 Deathmarks.
I don't want to have one unit of Immortals using the warrior bodies and one not as it would not look right whereas one unit of Deathmarks and two of Immortals using warrior bodies would be fine. I would assume that there are enough arms in an Immortals box to make 5 with gauss blasters and 5 with tesla carbines (I mean the arm that supports the gun here).
Is that right or would I need to use the warrior arms to support the guns on half of them?

You'd need to use the warrior arms unfortunately.

Right ok, the immortal arms are not too dissimilar from the warrior ones are they?
I was thinking of using the immortal arm holding the weapon (gauss blaster or tesla carbine) and the warrior arm to support the weapon.
Would this work or would loads of cutting and repositioning be involved?

I've seen such a thing irl recently, it works if that's still the problem. If you want to keep your army decent tough, build the warriors as death marks and the immortals with the normal parts. Immortals tend to be better recognised with their guns but less bulky one's immediately stand out, death marks, not that much.

Immortals are warriors with beefed up guns, go all out mate. Use the boxes to make deathmask, then used the spare guns to make warriors. Win Win WIn

Thanks for the tip RutgerMan but like I said before, I am hoping to get two immortal squads out of the spare necron warriors I may be buying and don't really want to have 20 Deathmarks.
The only problem I may run into is WYSIWIG nuts who say the Immortals should be bigger than warriors because of the increased armour save but I don't expect it to be a problem for most people I will play against.

If you want very cheap, google Spruecrons.

Thanks for that JohnnyHell.
While I appreciate the reason that this user made the spruecrons and the effort that went into it, I still want my potential new army to look Necron. I just didn't want to shell out for loads of immortal kits to do it when I have spare warriors available that I don't need.
I do plan on getting the right kits for the army just hopefully from discount webstores or ebay instead of GW.

I've used warrior bodies and immortal/deathmark weapons in the past, and I can tell you that you'll need to do some bending and remodeling to get them to fit. Immortal torsos are wider than warriors, so the arms will stick out a small distance when using them on warrior bodies. Chopping them at the elbow and repositioning will mostly work, though a few of the arm positions make the end result a little butchered.
Also an easy way to make your warriors look more like immortals is to grab some of the warrior bitz that come with ghost arks, take the spine/support columns, and snip pieces off to glue over the warriors' own backs. Looks pretty much the same as the Immortal spines.

Johnny Hell- thanks, it is a pretty good way to make an army for a kid though!
Badablack- Thanks for the tip. Maybe I will try and get hold of some Immortal torsos from a bits service and use them on the warrior legs if they will fit.
Although that might prove to be almost as expensive as buying the Immortal/Deathmark kits assuming that any bits site has enough in stock.

Depending on what other bits you have, I've made extra models from the immortals set by using the spare heads from wraiths as breastplates and then scratch building some legs. Lots of spare backs and heads from the immortal sets go cheap on bay
