So I am soon starting a 1000 point league with my Orks. Almost every opponent I face is some Marine Variant. I have found my shoota boys to be good against them so far, but I need some help making the best list I can at 1000. Is there any Ork unit that is particularly good against Marines? I am also soon facing a chapter of Marines that are all toughness 5, I would think it makes a huge difference for me, I mean the PK still kills them, but on the charge I wound on 5s and after on 6s....... Automatically Appended Next Post: Bump.
I'm really worried about the 5 toughness Marines and could use any insight from someone with experience against those guys.

I had the same problem, meganobz are excellent against marines but expensive and you would need thraka in such a small point least so they could be a troop choice. Something that I like an reccomend to do that I haven't seem is take grotsnik and put him with boys, he allows EVERY unit to take cybork armor as well as confers the feel no pain rules to his unit and it makes your army extremely durable against marines. It's unorthodox but has worked for me hopefully this helps you. Also outflanking Koptas you can never go wrong

Kill kans and lootas will be good friends. Also drop rokkit launch a boys into your Boyz squads. Don't give the nobz powerklaws. But so give them boss poles. Dakka jets could be nice but that's personal preference. At 1k it is a bit tough assuming you are running foot slogging. I would stay away from storm Boyz and expensive toys. Kans and good and can be loaded out well. But lootas two squads of 10 would be great.

I play a lot of games against marines, so here are my $0.02:
1. You can have many more bodies than your opponent. Use that to your advantage.
2. Rokkit Launcha toting Deffkoptas are excellent at anti-marine shooting, as are Warbikerz (which can be conveniently converted from Deffkoptas). Get up the board quickly, shoot a few, then tie them up in an assault (T5 Orks with a save are great in CC, but need to be supported (I like to support with a Battlewagon of Slugga Boyz and/or a Warboss on a Bike).
3. The Dakkajet makes quick work (especially during a WAAAGH!) of a marine squad (due to the high volume of S6 fire) and can also be turned on enemy flyers/light vehicles with ease.
4. Lootas can do the same as #3 (I simply don't use Lootas a lot because I haven't finished converting a squad).
5. (Though really, it should probably be #1) Don't forget your Kustom Force Field! Bolters ignore your armor (then again, how often do we get/make an armor save?), but they can't ignore a 5+ cover save (which is often a 3+ on the first turn due to night fighting). Remember that if 1 model from a unit is within 6 inches of the Big Mek's base, the whole squad gets the cover save!

Most of the times i play, it against vanilla marines, spacewolfs or grey knights...
The thing they have in common is,.. at lower point games they are easily overrun. IMO, marines get very dangerous from 1500 and up. At the range of 1k they can still pack a punch,...
but... at 1k... you have enough bodies to take that punch.
Ork boyz can realy swamp the enemy in CC.
I usualy go green tide at 1k and lower...
Take a big Mek with kff,... maybe grotznik with a nice sized squad of boyz/ard boyz...
Loota's,... never leave without em,.. only armor they cant do anything about is AV14... but i'd doubt youd see a land raider at 1k...
I dont know what i was gonna say anymore,.. just get a f***ton of bodies on the field... marines dont have enough shots at this point range to make a big enough dent before close combat...

I'd go mass warbikers. I've really enjoyed my warbiker list so far, each biker has a TL big shoota for lots of S5 dakka, then you can finish off the squad with your pk nob. Plus your a lot harder to kill. At 1000pts I'd run something like this:
HQ
Wazzdakka
Troops
6 warbikers w/ pk and bp nob
6 warbikers w/ pk and bp nob
6 warbikers w/ pk and bp nob
6 warbikers w/ pk and bp nob
I think this is about 60pts shy of 1000.
