The more I think about it for my chaos dwarfs I keep coming back to the the Ogre Stonehorn. With a good paint job it could work.

Fluff/art-wise its somewhere between a balrog and a juggernaut, but the size of a stonehorn/griffon...

No just no. It dose not even match the fluff, its meant to be a immense bull like beast made from smoldering iron and other things. But of chourse this is open to intertipation by the one making said model, just make sure to use the correct base. The closet thing you will come is the stone horn, it needs some GS work to model armor plates on and such. And then a good paint job to make it look Chaotic and primordial. I have two of them made from said beast, although they where not made by myself.

The Balrog has horns, cloven hooves, and its on fire. You could easily guess from its description that its a Minotaurlike creature.

The last couple of games I've been using the FW bloodthirster as a proxy as I'd imagine they would be roughly the same size, would still like to see a proper model done

I agree with you they are but ugly too. So far I have not seen a need for them in my chaos dwarf army, but if I did I would convert them or find something else. I have always liked the idea of making a fire troll to use for them.

You seem to be hostile to the Balrog for some reason. Why? It fits all the criteria for an acceptable model.

Yeah the balrog works fine. He would work even better if you take the wings off.

A bit of a different approach to the model here but I think the forgeworld incarnate of fire is a fantastic model for it. It's huge so it gets the scale of the model across and it's flaming. Sounds good to me

Why not wait for the actual fw kdaii model?

The Slaughterbrute could work.

Because its a LOTR model first of all, secondly I have had to build and paint three of them.

Have you ever had the misfortune of buling/ painting one? And it mather because it is from the wrong game system

Building and painting is a seperate issue entirely.

And wrong game system doesn't matter at all. We're already talking about 3rd party manufacturers and there is nothing preventing you from using them. Why would there be some magic thing preventing you from using a GW model from a different game?

I used a stonehorn as the basis for my conversion, I then used the head from a Beastmen Gorgon (more bull-like) then I filed down the fur with a dremel and sculpted scales/armor and a flaming mane. It's still a WIP, but I'm quite pleased with it.

All of my chaos dwarfs are the old big hat models from 5th. So one idea I had was to use the FW taurus model. It is way bigger than the metal taurus ,my characters will be riding so there would be no confusion. that
