As the title says. I just want to hear opinions of others.

I only want to hear about DE or BT though no venturing off unless to make a point to make either DE or BT as your choice in the matter.

Dark eldar are better, but they are harder too, with the low saves and toughness to contend with.

Purely due to how outdated the BT book is unfortunately.

Both armies though assault friendly have their own strengths and weaknesses to be honest and both would make a good assaulting army:

-Dark Eldar can get more bodies and have a much nastier assault phase, but if you sneeze they will be smashed to pulp. One of the best assault lists I have seen is a Dark Eldar player who runs whyches in raiders and sits back and softens up the enemy with dark lances before zipping foward and disembarking to slaughter the unfortunate opponent.

-BT get lovely power armor, their Emperors champion can take a vow that gives the army "Rage", can take a holy relic that allows re-rolls, put scouts in the squads as bullet magnets as well as shooting power (watching x10 of them with shotguns unload into a massive Ork Boy squad to soften up the charge is pretty legit) and overwatch defense. And thanks to a few FAQs they now get flyers.

Both armies have their ups and downs in regards to finances as well, chances are you will spend alot less on a BT army then a Dark Eldar army, but Dark Eldar are very nasty especially if you are willing to put the money into them.

Nicely put. This is where I am sitting at right now. I want to expand one army to focus only on CC ( just started BT few months ago and DE since april ) and will only have time and money to make one a reality atm. Thus this thread.

With that additional information I would have to say go with BT's since you only want to do one CC army. Dont get me wrong Dark Eldar are an excellent assault army but if you only want to do one BT's really are best effective when doing a CC list whereas Dark Eldar can shoot the hell out of you without problem. This is just my personal opinion however (in regards to both armies) but if you want to check out some good BT lists head over to here, they may give you some help to put together a nasty army of BT's

it as an idea i had. Having a kabal shooty list that flies around and a zealous templar army to conquer with.

If you want to assault with DE, beastmaster packs are incredible.

3-4 beastmasters, 1x5 khymerae, rest razorwing flocks per unit. You can run 2-3 of these and they're super deadly ,especially if you add the Baron to them.

It's ultra expensive to run these if you use GW models, so use vampire counts stuff for khymerae, hellions for beastmasters, and something else for the flocks. But, if you play assault DE, you have to run these, as they're just too good.

DA is much more a shooty army than assault in 6th. So id go for BT.

Definitely check out B&C. Thats where the BT pros hang out. Say hi to me when you get there
