I like the second list better. Unless you plan on assaulting, you probably would be better served using the librarian.

It's just a local friendly and I agree on the libby, just got really confused picking the powers

If you're planning on a libby then our powers that are actually worth it are nullzone and gate of infinity. If you would like brb powers our best option is generally biomancy. Meltabombs are a waste on the scout squad if they have snipers. Plasma pistols are also generally not very worth it. If you are set on the las cannon for the dread consider either a missile or auto cannon on the other arm as the flamer clashes.

Just asking, at what level are the other players playing at? Experienced? Advanced? Beginner?

I've been only playing for about 6 months so forgive my comments!

Your second list looks way better than the first, mostly because of the transport for your Tac Squad. The footslogger in List #1 will get cut down more often than not.

That being said, the Dreads look good on paper, but in reality, if you're not drop-podding them and the enemy is not rushing the Dreads, you'll find that they will arrive a little too late if they footslogg!

Good luck with the battle mate and may the Emperor be with you!

Well I'd say definitely go with the librarian. The chaplain can really only do stuff on turn 2-3 once he's in melee. But the Librarian can be instant awesomesauce with GOI and the like.

Also agree with dom about the dread. Of course the LC will do something, but walking in with a DCCW? That probably wont be used unless it gets assualted and not much does that.

I dont think melta bombs are hugely necessary. I'd suggest swapping the plasmagun for a meltagun for something with extra hard hits.

So I'd go something like; 520pts

Lib - 100

Dread - 125
2 TL autocannons

10 tac squad - 210
power weapon
plasma pistol
meltagun
missile launcher

5 Scouts - 85
boltguns
heavy bolter

Sometimes guys try to be funny and bring in a couple of vendettas or the like, a riflemen dread would probably be you're best bet a touching them from the look of what you've got and it can walk out okay. A meltagun attached to GOI librarian gives you something to touch heavy armour if that shows up. Then scouts infiltrate into terrain and hopefully do something.

With the 80pts left, I'd probably combat squad the tac squad and chuck in the meltagunner, sergeant & librarian in a razorback (might have to loose the pistol). Then have the others as a fire base with the dread. For the 50ish remaining, a MM attack bike would be cool but it depends on what you've got. Maybe just bulk out the scout squad or add camo cloaks?

Thanks for all the advice, seem it's wide of the mark would it be easier to list what I do have? Painted/modelled and primed/in boxes

Based just off the lists you've got... the second one but still switch for the librarian. He's just more versatile.
