I'm expanding to Ret once the league I am a part of finishes, and I am thinking about what I want to do. I would like to run Kaelyssa, but not the battlebox, so I figured I would buy a 15 pt list and go from there. I was thinking of this at 15 points

Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper
Phoenix
Ghost Sniper
Max Mage Hunter Strike Force w/ UA

This is more based around models that I really adore than a super powerful list, as well as some synergies like arcing backlash/arcantrik bolt on warjacks, banishing ward on whoever the opponent has buffed, or rift to disrupt the enemy's advanced through the phoenix, and if I am against hordes messing with their fury process until I can strike at their warlock.

Opinions?

Mage Hunters with UA are beastly in so many regards and are a good start. As for a full unit, I would be hesitant; however, that's mainly because they can't do much against Warbeasts.

Phoenix is a no brainer given its ability to literally walk through most Infantry Formations as well as Arc Node.

Ghost Sniper is okay. However, no real suggestion for replacement.

Moving on from this starting out, a few suggestions are Sentinels for their ability to cleave through just about anything. Full units are awesome and with their UA, they become doubly dangerous with Vengeance.

As above, you might have issues against heavy warbeasts.

but since this is starting out.. MHSF is a great units to have.

Only thing i would change is a Mage Hunter Assassin in place of the Ghost sniper.

Cheers, sentinels are on the list for the future, as are additional heavies (banshee and hydra amongst them). And I may swap the sniper out for the assassin, although I'll get the alternate sculpt, I do love that model. Thanks for your help.

Would swapping the Phoenix out for a Hydra and Sylly Wylly be better at this level? Or would I give too much away in terms of anti-infantry, as well as a true heavy hitter (Hydra only being P+S 14, but it has a nice chain attack and a decent cannon which only gets better with Kae's spell Phantom Hunter)

I would call it hard to pass up a Phoenix. He is just flat out good.

If anything, you need to add an Arcanist. Powerbooster.. add 1 focus to the Phoenix. or Concentrated power for a dmg buff for your jack.

I could always take an arcanist and a MHA by making the max unit of Mage Hunters a min unit... and since they are models I'd buy later anyway it could be worthwhile.
