Sorry if this question has been asked before, but after searching through several pages of results for either bastion or fire points, I could not find my answer.

Page 97 explains briefly what firepoints are and the picture gives an example of what to expect.
The entry for the bastion itself says "As per model".

So, if you use the base kit for the Bastion, you have 2 wall panels with 2 fire points each and one of these slot is shown as being a fire point on page 97.

What about the bottom level of the bastion? The 3 sides where there is no door? Those are not defined as firepoints anywhere, however they most assuredly look like it and are definately much larger than the small firepoints on the second level of the bastion.

Can anyone confirm if those are actually firepoints and can be used as such? I have been unable to find any clarification on this either through rulebook, FAQ or previous discussion.

Fire Points for the troops are all the windows.

The definition for the fire points are "as per Model" and the bastion model has window slits along the bottom that would allow a weapon to be fired from it, ergo: the lower slits are Fire points.

Alternatively; this is one of those things you discuss with your opponent as you define terrain.

Having the Lower as Fire points is 2-edged, While your models can fire out, a unit with several flamers can decimate your unit simply by getting the template in range of 1 of those slits(BRB Page 94, template weapons).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

I agree on discussing terrain with my opponent before play, however since I am taking the bastion as my fortification, I want to ensure I can actually plan my strategy around what I can do with it and not necessarily what my opponent dictates.

Your double edged sword explanations does make the most sense to justify it being a fire point.

The bastion model has 7 fire points.

3 on the bottom level, the 3 windows. The door covers up the 4th.

And 2 of the center sections each have 2 little windows directly to the left and right of the heavy bolter.
