Pretty much the title. I don't play a ton of Fantasy and this really has me scratching my head.

The Monster and Handler rule says the handlers are ignored for most gaming purposes. Does that mean they're ignored all the time except for hit randomization, close combat attacks and using the highest Ld value as per the rules and FAQs, thus making it a "Lone Model" and able to pivot freely during its move?

Yes. "...treating the monster itself as the extent of the unit." So the unit is the monster, and is treated as such aside from the exceptions just below, none of which concern movement.
