Hi all,

I'm designing a 1K Skirmish list for my Sons of the Lion. The good thing about a 1K list is that, being a new player with limited models, I am able to make a more efficient list, rather than playing my entire 1,750 army which would include 20 tactical Marines. That being said, I present to you my humble 1,054 list!

Belial 190 points

Deathwing Squad #1 245 points
1x Chainfist
1x Assault Cannon

Deathwing Squad #2 245 points
1x Chainfist
1x Assault Cannon

Ravenwing Squadron 234 points
2x Additional Bikers
2x Plasma Guns
1x Attack Bike w/Multi Melta
Veteran Sergeant Upgrade
1x Melta Bombs for Sergeant

Devastator Squad 140 points
2x Plasma Cannons
2x Lascannons

TOTAL: 1,054 POINTS

I'm not a tournament player or anything but

1. Is the points cap a strict thing? I believe for casual games its not an issue to flirt around a slight excess of points, if your opponent is fine about it.

2. If the answer to the above is 'yes', then would it make sense to trim the following:-

Minus the Multi Melta on the Attack Bike
Minus 2x Lascannons
Minus Melta Bombs for R/W Sergeant

= NEW TOTAL 999 POINTS

3. Alternative trimming

Minus Attack Bike

= NEW TOTAL 999 POINTS

What do you guys think of all 3 lists (original list + 2 alternative lists)?

I like them. I think you'll be able to have some good games in a casual environment.

Personally, if i was playing you i'd ask you to trim it down, I don't mind over-looking 5-10 points over, but 50 is pushing it, partof the challenge of 40k is building a useable force within the restrictions.

As for what to drop you should play a few games with both options and see what manages to perform better.

As a side note I'm not a fan of mixed weapons in a dev squad as it hampers your effectivness (atleast in my experience) - so it might be worth looking at that.

Noted Brother evildrcheese! Thanks for your comments & suggestions.

As a note, I agree with you on the point on Devastators. Problem is, I don't have enough models to do that. When my second box of Devastators come in, I'll be able to field 4x Lascannons in 1 squad and 4x Plasma Cannons in the other!
