G'day all,
Shortly I will be starting to put together my 40K Orks army. I've come up with 2000 points of Orks from which I would choose my army from for smaller battles. What I would like is a hard army, but not the sort of army where people look at you and think 'I don't want to play against that tool' Can you guys give feed back and criteque this list, that would be great.

I have an alternate choice for the list which will be in brackets
Ghazghull Thraka ( or WarBoss- Mega Armour (If I take a this normal Boss and drop the killkannon I can fit in a extra 6 Warbikes, Nob, Power Klaw and a boss pole))
Big Mek- Kustom Force field

Nobz x 10- 5 Power Klaws, 2 Big Choppas, Bosspole, Waagh Banner and a pain boy (or Mega Nobs x 9- 2 with skorchas)
Lootas x 8- Mek

Deff Dread- 2 close Combat Weapons
Deff Dread- Rokkit launcha and scorcha
Killa Kans x 3- rokkit Launchas
Battle Wagon- Deffrolla, Killkannon with no mega nobz

boyz x20- Nob, Power Klaw and bosspole
boyz x20- Nob, Power Klaw and bosspole
boyz x20- Nob, Power Klaw and bosspole

Deffkoptas x 4- Twin linked Rokkit Lauchas

So what do you guys recon???

Way too many klaws on the nobz. Anything more than three is overkill and you'll find yourself swinging with fifty points against nothing but air as the target is already dead. Drop those and beef up the boyz mobs instead. Try splitting the deffkotas into two units and maybe add lootas to make them two squads of five each.

Taking warbikes is would be quite a change in army style if I may say so my self.

You've got yourself a foot horde and a battlewagon. I take it the lootas ride in the wagon? My main issue is than with no other vehicles it stands out a bit like a sore thumb, the lootas would last alot longer behind an ADL and that leaves you with points to play with.
Hopefully the boys have shootas so they can do something on the way there, if there's any points to spare I suggest adding big shootas.
For the nobs, I'd loose 3 klaws, add a big choppa and give them all cybork bodies.
I'm rather indifferent to deffkoptas now it's not viable as a first turn pk kill. They only hit 4/9 times and its a krak missile. Okay, but nothing to concern a heavy tank. I'd probably loose them in favour of something else.
Give the first deffdread a ranged weapon, probably a big shoota and skorcha. Rokkits are too unreliable and that many DCCW attacks is overkill.
From the number of walkers, it looks like you've got a can wall style going on. Killa kans have a tendancy to drop like flies so I'd get another 3 over the deffkoptas. Try and keep them under the umbrella of the KFF mek or out of LOS. My preference for weapon loadout if the kustom megablasta. Being BS3 it'll have a chance at hitting and gives you something to ID terminators at range. 6 Kans with those would be leathal.
Any points left spare take kannons.

edit; actually looking at it the nobs and ghaz are probably in the wagon right? Well okay in that case, but they would still leave everyone else behind making them vulnerable. Also its nice to have good timing on the waaagh so everything hits simultaneously.

If your attack is going too well, you have walked into an ambush

The easy way is always mined

I'm in much the same position as Mat.

Main thing I suggest is dropping the battlewagon. If you've only got one wagon, filled with either lootas or nobz, it'll go down pretty quickly as the opponent focuses all their anti tank on it.

Then again I know a guy who runs a battlewagon w/ nobz for the sole purposes of drawing enermy fire so the boyz can reach their lines
