Subject: Fighter Ace Upgrade for Normal 40k game

I was wondering if the fighter ace upgrade listed in death from the skies is used in a normal game of 40k. it is listed differently then the different scenarios, which it clearly lists the scenarios, and maneuvers that are optional rules. However under the fighter ace upgrades it seems to imply that it used for a normal game of 40k, I can list the exact wording when I get home.
Thoughts from anyone that has a copy of the book?

It's still listed in the digital book, it just happens to be called "Flyboss" now. Edit: Sorry, misunderstood your question.

That's an upgrade for the Ork Dakkajet, and completely different to upgrades the Original poster is asking about.

There are upgrades to make flyers 'heroes' now with random D6 charts.
They seem like a scenario 'option' not a core unit ruleset.
The ork upgrade is so bad it hasn't come up yet for me to bother attempting.

I'm not sure about the evading manouvers and hero tables and all that stuff, but the profile listed in the death from the skies is the actual profile you use for the 40k normal games. All the WD flyers got FAQed so that you use the rules/point costs from the Death from the skies book

it does not say that a Fighter ace is to be only taken in a Burning Skies Scenario. If you look it states that using the Dog Fighting and Special Maneuvers are for Burning Skies games but it does not say that regarding Fighter Aces.
Page 40, Death from the Skies. (Top of the Page) "Fighter Aces are upgrades for Flyers in Warhammer 40,000. Any Model with the Flyer type my be upgraded to be a Fighter Ace for the Appropriate point cost."
Page 36, Death From the Skies. (Top of Page) "Special Manoeuvres are are actions that a Flyer can make during a game of Warhammer 40,000 that uses the rules for Burning Skies."
So I am leaning toward Fighter Aces being a Upgrade for All 40k games and not just Burning Skies/Aerial Missions, based on the wording given in the Death from The Skies Flyerdex right now.

However reading it when i got home it seems to be for 40k at first, but some talk about entering dog fights and bonuses for it. Which in normal 40k doesnt use those rules

It is a warlord trait for a flyer of sorts. Sometimes you get a crappy Warlord trait, and sometimes you get gold

After getting a chance to glance at the book, I have to say I don't think they're intended for use in regular games. A bunch of the charts have a bonus that only ever applies in Dogfights, which would seem to indicate that they are meant for use in games where the Dogfighting rules are being used.
