I ran into these cool purple crystal terrain pieces, http://www.flamesofwar.com/Default.aspx?tabid=79&ProductID=4946, at my FLGS and instantly thought they would be great for a Dark/Miasma themed Endless board. It also got me thinking that I don't remember seeing rules for "blocking" terrain like crystals, pine trees, or floor to ceiling pillars in some castle throne room. I don't know if there really needs to be much for specific rules. The onle specific questions I can come up with would be how they would effect line attacks and how they would interact with the "follow through" ability.

If I have a line 4 power and the third square is a 6 square high wall (tree, statue, etc), but the fourth square is level ground what happens? Does my power go out two squares and stop? Does my power fail? Does my power hit squares 1,2, and 4? Does Follow Through ability change anything in the above equation?

P.S. - Yes, thoughts and ideas for Endless Fantasy Tactics pop into my head on a nearly daily basis, though I almost feel out of place on these forums since I haven't checked out Brushfire yet. The moreI lurk the more I think that may have to change.

The GF9 crystal line is fantastic, unfortunately only like half of them fit on 1inch squares, so you'd have to make them occupy 4 squares like Large Models.

I would say that type of terrain would have a height value to it, possibly determined by the players at game start. You would also declare what terrain you've put on the table can be occupied by other models (In an open air ruin, you could stand on a column, but in an underground lair that same column is holding up the roof and thus could not be occupied/passed through etc.

Follow Through is intended as a flavorful description, but the model does not occupy those squares that it 'passes' through doing its attack. You would simply place them in the next unoccupied square after the Line.

Multi-Target commands ignore terrain height for determining what targets are viable, they only require that you have LoS and 'range' to the center/first square of the command (Height value of the Acting model + the Range => RNG 3 AoE 1: a regular model could target a square 5 height levels above the one they are standing on. Cone 3: a regular model can target a square 3 height levels above them (RNG 1 assumed, +2 from the height of the model.) Thats how you determine Range to a square vertically.

This is separate from Line of Sight THROUGH a Terrain piece. If a terrain piece is considered to have a height of 6, for two models to have line of sight to each other 'through' the piece, one of them needs to be standing at height 5 (3 for a Large Model) or higher.

So columns/trees etc could cause blocked line of sight but would not affect whether a Multi-Target hits spots beyond it, or affect Follow Through.

Edited for Clarity/Typos.

I'll let Matt come in and answer the actual question, but we love those Crystals that Battlefront puts out. We've got 4 boxes (Red/Green/Blue/Purple) of them on the terrain shelf.

And don't let all of the Brushfire talk discourage you from starting Endless threads, Brushfire has just had a little more time to build up its fanbase.. and is actually released.

I am working on an Endless board inspired by those rigth now.

Those were good questions, as I am including supporting columns in the board, so they would have crept up eventually.

Wow those are awesome. Totally beyond my price range for props through.

I've been a long time terrain paper crafter so I have this still have these files (the pics suck but the crystal props are awesome, it's just "retired" and no longer for sale). So I am planning to make some more for props with my Endless terrain.
