So if I am reading this correctly. If I make my soul grinder nurgle. He gets a 5++ invul save from daemon, 5++ shrouded cover save, and slow and purposeful lets him fire all of his weapons like he had not moved? Just confirming how good this upgrade is as he would be snap firing one if he moved 6". And he gets stealth every time a melta gun is double tapping against him thanks to defensive grenades.

Have a read of the Walker rules. Slow and Purposeful doesn't help a Walker in the slightest.

I recently fought a Nurgle Soul Grinder behind an aegis defense line... very frustrating indeed.

How so? A walker can move and still fire all of its weapons... but so can any vehicle for that matter. Are walkers allowed to ignore the snap firing that follows with the rest of the weapons after moving?

Walkers don't have to Snap Fire unless they're Shaken, firing Overwatch, or shooting at a Hard to Hit target. They don't move Combat Speed or Cruising Speed.

Slow and Purposeful is all downside for them, as it means they can't Run, Sweeping Advance, or fire Overwatch.

Shrouded is pretty awesome, though. Getting 2+ cover when you're obscured behind a Ruin or Hill Crest, or 3+ behind another vehicle or something, is very nice.

Remember that 25% of the actual model needs to be hidden; not just 25% of its height. I can't imagine an Aegis actually covering 25% of a Soul Grinder unless the SG was partially sunken behind it, in a big crater or something.

This is a good point, I had always interpreted it as move and fire all their weapons at normal BS, but that's certainly not how it is written.

Either way, Slow and Purposeful won't help them, all vehicles are relentless, which is the same advantage as Slow and Purposeful without the disadvantages.

So however you decide to rule, a Slow and Purposeful Soul Grinder will have the same ability to fire as a normal Dreadnought.

Interceptor Drones can disembark at any point during the Sun Shark's move (even though models cannot normally disembark from Zooming Flyers).

Walkers use the Movement rules for Infantry; this means they never move at Combat or Cruising Speeds. The limitations about how many weapons can be fired at BS vs. Snap Fired are tied to moving at Combat Speed or Cruising Speed, so they do not apply to Walkers.

So however you decide to rule, a Slow and Purposeful Soul Grinder will have the same ability to fire as a normal Dreadnought.

Except that it can't Overwatch.

To the OP. Yes a nurgle grinder is a pain in the ass to shift off the board even with a melta gun.

It's not the size of the blade, it's how you use it.

Well, you really need to come at it from an angle where it doesn't get cover. Considering how huge they are, that's usually not too hard. The 5+ they get in the open is no better than the 5+ they get for being a Daemon anyway.

Read the rule for area terrain you do not need to be 25% obscured to benefit from it

Read the rules for vehicles.
They do not gain the benefit of area terrain by being in it. They need to be 25% obscured.

And regardless - an ADL isn't area terrain.

I was actually referring to forests or ruins. And whats the point of area terrain stating a model doesnt need to be 25% obscured if vehicles are the only ones who need the 25%???

Models that are obscured by at least 25% get cover. Being in area terrain removes the 25% requirement... Except for vehicles which stipulate they only ever get cover if the are at least 25% obscured.

The post you replied (rudely) to was talking about the ADL, so actually you were talking about the ADL.

Non-vehicle models do need 25% terrain coverage. You should re-read the cover rules and the vehicle cover rules.

Quick question: So walkers (specifically the soul grinder) get to use defensive grenades?

Yes, why wouldnt they? Find a rule disallowing the general permission they have as a model to use them
