I'm looking to build a nurgle army for fantasy but I have NO idea how to base them. The plaugebearers will pretty typical nurgle greens but then I am going to mix in a lot of browns/oranges/reds/yellows/purples to break it up.

I was thinking something slimy or lots of grass at the front of the unit and have it all dead at the back but basing is not my forte.

So far I've done my bases to best represent the given army. Sometimes that works out to be fairly run of the mill, others it's more original.

You could do just regular terrain, but have it rotting near the marines like an aura of decay and disease where they've stepped. Like what you've said, with bits of puss or smegma or whatever dripping in pools and spots. That's what I'll be going for when I finally get to do my Nurgle army. You could also have the ground already completely diseased, with pools of sludge and filth. Rancid, rotting flesh floating in them. Depending on how much detail you want to put into them.

I've seen some resin bases with dead bodies on them. I think they're supposed to be partially buried but you could easily do it up like their flesh has melted to liquid rot. I can't remember where I'd seen them, it may have been Secret Weapon. I had just Googled 120mm bases so I don't know if they come smaller.

I am going to be doing a Nurgle army myself soon and I am thinking about using dried mealworms. They can be bought in big bags that are used to feed ground feeding wild birds. They can used by putting a few in a dish and mixing them with some PVA and water. Then put them onto your bases here and there as big ass maggotty worm-things! You won't need to paint them if you don't feel like it or you could paint them up all gross looking. Gloss varnish will really help them out.

Also, you can use the leftovers to feed the ild birds in your garden. Just don't scatter them too close to the bushes or sneaky cats will get the birds.
