I've been playing 40k for a while, and Fantasy of course piqued my interest, but I can't get over how ugly their models are for the price. Hell, even half of the new Warriors of Chaos' models are disgusting. [Mostly the mutant guys and I'm not fond of the dragon ogres either.] I mean, the only decent looking models I've seen are some of Skaven's and some of the WoC's.

I hope the new releases at least do some justice.

Just a matter of taste. I play fantasy yet can't get into 40k. If the player base in my local area wasn't so.... Waac... Then maybe I could get past the ugly models. But fantasy might not be for you. You may have no interst in fantasy looks, just like I have no interest in boxy, futuristic looks. (I can't even do warmachine. I have to do hordes.)

I don't play warhammer, but i noticed that the new plague bearers were not very menacing, the plague bearers that were shown in the golden demon awards in the march 2013 issue looked better

Yea, the new guys are nice models but they have that happy-go-lucky new nurgle look GW are going for these days.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I said the same thing about war machine and hordes. There is only 1 faction where I think the models are worth buying, the rest look terrible. Then again you'll find hundreds of others who will both agree and disagree with me.

If you don't like the models, why are you interested in it?

I'm exactly the opposite--- I don't really like 40k stuff anymore, so I don't play it.

... Because of fluff? Because it is a different (*cough*better*cough*) rules set? Because some people like fantasy more than scifi?

All legit reasons, and all partial reasons for why I don't play 40k anymore

How the models look to you is all opinion.... but if you hate the looks of all the models, you might not enjoy the game.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Have you looked at all the different factions to see if there is one you like?

You may also consider 3rd party miniatures. Since GW doesn't run any tournaments anymore there is nothing forcing you to use GW miniatures.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

If you want to give fantasy a go.Have you looked at Mantic Games Kings of War.
Free rules, you can play games with card board cut to the right shape for units , if you want to try the rules out .
And their minatures are much cheaper.
Avatars Of War also do some nice fantasy minatures.
