Please please please please slow the pacing down this time.
The thing that really ruined the last one for me is that it's just too fast paced. There's no time to breathe and there's no time for characters to actually have moments and grow or anything. Star Trek is not an action franchise, it's about people having people problems in front of a space opera backdrop.
Basically, it lacked anticipation. You know that sort of "hang time" before something happens in good action anime? Not talking about slow-mo matrix shots, just the act of lingering on establishment shots, stretching out approaches, building up anticipation with music before something big happens. Star Trek has historically been pretty good at that up until the Abrams reboot. The abrams reboot was just BANG BANG BANG without moments.
I could even have forgiven the dumb action movie story if they hadn't edited it like they were on speed.
Looks like a fun space romp. I wonder when they are going to do a Star Trek movie though.
-"Wait a minute.....who is that Frazz is talking to in the gallery? Hmmm something is going on here.....Oh.... it seems there is some dispute over video taping of some sort......Frazz is really upset now..........wait a minute......whats he go there.......is it? Can it be?....Frazz has just unleashed his hidden weiner dog from his mini bag, while quoting shakespeares "Let slip the dogs the war!!" GG
-"Don't mind Frazzled. He's just Dakka's crazy old dude locked in the attic. He's harmless. Mostly."
