It seems that I'm not able to find a single profile for the Doomweaver (nightspinner turret mounted weapon). Is it blast or large blast? I found both those profile over multiple website and I don't have that WD.

Monofilament web rules says that any unit hit is considered to move through both dangerous and difficult terrain during the next movement. I assume that this includes every kind of movement, even those that don't normally trigger dangerous terrain test. Is this right?

(assuming pile in do trigger the token as it seems to me) A unit with a monofilament token is locked in close combat. Every model except two are in base to base contact with the enemy (me), one has iniative 5 and the other 4. The first model piles in. My opponent checks for dangerous terrain. Is now the movement considered completed? (The token is removed before iniative 4 step and pile in?)

Last question. A unit composed of 10 model has a monofilament token and just one model moves. How many test does my opponent take? It seems that this is a viable way to almost freely remove the token, at least during the movement phase.

I have completely no idea how to answer, but I really like this unit, at least on paper. Please give me some insight Dakka! Thanks

Thankfully, unlike more recent vehicles presented in White Dwarf, GW actually put the rules for the Night Spinner on their website as a free PDF. So one of your issues, at least, is easily solved.

Yes, it's a normal (small) blast, not large. CORRECTION: Large Blast; the indentation/alignment of the word "Large" on the page is messed up, and it's offset, so I missed it.

Monofilament web rules says that any unit hit is considered to move through both dangerous and difficult terrain during the next movement. I assume that this includes every kind of movement, even those that don't normally trigger dangerous terrain test. Is this right?

The next time the unit moves it's considered to be moving through Difficult and Dangerous. To the best of my recollection there aren't any types of moves (in 6th) which don't trigger Dangerous.

Yes, you're right, that if only one model moves the next time the unit moves, that functionally reduces the danger to just that model. The nature of the 6th ed pile-in rules does reduce the danger of the Monofilament Web if you decide to chart a unit that's got a token on it, and has a model in it with a higher Initiative.

Overall the biggest hit the NS took in effectiveness is that people get armor saves and FNP now against Dangerous Terrain. It definitely makes it a lot less lethal to armored units, although it's still got uses against big units, especially. With the popularity of IG blobs and other big horde units (new daemons, Orks as allies), it may still be a viable unit.

An Igloo Deep North in Canada, eh?

Nightspinner is large blast. The .pdf is funny and has the word large on a different line.

Edit: look under the range to find the word "large."

Both players should be using the least durable units possible, with the house rule that all players remove an article of clothing every time you lose a unit, and take a drink every time you kill one of your opponent's units.
I have no idea which army will be triumphant, but I can assure you that everyone wins.

Twin-Linked Barrage S6 Rending is also amazingly good for sniping out particular models. If you have Line of Sight you're highly likely to get the blast right where you want it, which means the guy under the hole has to eat all the wounds first. I've had good luck shredding Crypteks with a pair of Night Spinners.

Another excellent point. Dangerous Terrain got defanged against MEQs and TEQs, but you're right that Barrage did get that lovely new ability to snipe models out of the middle or backs of units, and the Night Spinner being Twin Linked makes it more reliable.

Just to let you know, the Italian faq is completely missing the word large and I went almot mad when I found it out. The brb doesn't have doomweaver listed lol

As for mixed wound is completely legit to assign rending wounds before normal wounds. This way I'm almost sure to kill that nasty ml/flamer marine in the back of the unit or snipe out characters and avoid challenges.

Is slowing the opponent worth? I always find it kind of useful against footslogger denying objectives too far away for them to reach.

Slowing them just in and of itself isn't bad, but it's not lethal either. Slowing them so they spend longer in your dangerous terrain (or are effected by some other option) is awesome though. I've noticed this when running tremor staves in my necron army along with a c'tan with the ability to make dangerous terrain checks easier to fail.

I've had a lot of luck using the Nightspinner against Tyranid swarm armies and footslogging Orks. Either the whole unit will surge forward and some of them will die, or the player will play it safe and move just 1 model minimizing risk but keeps the unit slowed.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

i love the Night Spinner. I run it every game and is a must have for me.

Best part for me is to Doom a unit and then drop the Spinner. It wounds most things on 2's so rerolling all non-Rends is awesome to ensure maximum death. 72'' range is amazing and can reach literally anywhere on the board. Twin-Linked makes this thing even more amazing and allows for almost a sure Hit! to be rolled.

Most often I fire it units to pick out Sergeants or Special Weapon.s But if going against IG Chimera Spam or bunched up vehicles, this thing does wonders. Side armor on Chimera is 10, so a results occurs half the time. Also, even if no result is rolled, you have the potential to do something the next time the vehicle(s) move. And it isn't the next turn the vehicle moves but the NEXT TIME it decides to move. Immoblizing lead vehicles in a parking lot is awesome to see.

This tank does something by just grazing a vehicle or a unit and doesn't even have to wound or glance/pen. Its awesome and cheap. Definately recommend it.
