Late Report

Our correspondent in the Grimlach Sector has sent in campod images of our loyal Imperial Guard
thwarting a Necron raid near the abandoned court complex west of Hive Beautific. Necrons incursions
have been steadily reported in the area recently and the Imperial Council dispatched a combined arms force
to eliminate the threat.

Imperial Colonel Roma leads his troops forward

The Necrons advance as Colonel Roma's armor prepare to defend the court building

Necron Lord Sharydan guides his tank killer destroyers forward while Immortals occupy a sandbag bunker

A swarm of scarabs move through a ravine to approach the Imperial armor

On the right, Necron Destroyers prepare to flank the armor from behind the Court building

Sharydan's destroyers light up an APC forcing the troops out

Necron warriors have taken hits - Sharydan calls in a Monolith to shatter the Guard formations.
The Scarabs burst out of the ravine but take heavy fire from Guard tanks who realize the threat

The Monolith causes consternation as the Guard has little to combat it - save their Manticore battery
that happens to be within meters of the hulking Necron construct. The Monolith blast Guard infantry but then -
BLOOIE - it blows up from a direct hit from the Manticore.

The Scarabs have been whittled down to ineffective as the warriors advance, pouring gauss fire
at the armor to no effect

Roma's call for support is finally answered as a Valkyre appears, its Punisher cannons blazing.
Necron warriors and Destroyers fall by the handful

The Necron survivors head for cover and yet manage to cut down the Guard that has bailed out of
the crippled APC

The Necron warriors in the trees dodge the Valkyre's attention but their Gauss rifles do little to
the Guard armor.

The Valkyre turns its guns on the Immortals

On the right, the Necron Destroyers ruin another APC, but it may be too little too late

The Destroyers seek cover in the court ruins as the Guard still have many functional guns
pointing their way. Sharydan, choosing to save what he can, decides to fight another day and
orders his minions to phase out of the area. An eerie silence falls and the Necron threat is contained
by the gallant efforts of our noble Imperial Guard. All hail the Emperor!

... was this played with a pre-5th ed. version of the Necron Codex?

Yeah, I'm a little confused by that as well.

Also, the forgeworld punisher-cannon flier is called the vulture, not the valkyrie.

Possibly he's just using the term 'phased out' for 'the player conceded'

Otherwise I quite like this report, nice pics with some good effort put in to give it a more believable edge. I always like a little more detail in a turn-by-turn breakdown, but the flow is great.

Run a whole lot of wfrp and other rpg's, play The Woods and Kill Team, gather and look mournfully at imperial guard knowing I'll never finish enough to use them on the tabletop

6th Edition - just using a retro phrase for beating it off the battle field to fight another day. After all, phasing out may not be in the codex anymore (thank C'Tan), but doesn't mean they don't use phasing when they're messing around in the Tombs or trying to save their little chrome behinds... And yes, it is a Vulcan and the Colonel is named Odin as it turns out, not Roma. Seems our reporter got ahold of some Squigg Joy Juice and was a bit sloppy in his reporting.

Awesome battle report. I love it when there is an actual story and not just "these necron who are friends with these grey knights are going to be trying to kill these other necrons who also have grey knight friends for no apparent reason on this open field with maybe a single hill and a building for some reason."

MORE OF THESE PLEASE!!!!!!!!

I might have to try to stick my head back into the shop for a good old throw down with my new death watch. Whats the name of the new shop again?

The Emperor extends His will to us when we destroy the wicked and impure to reconquer the galaxy in His name. The Emperor leads the galaxy to righteousness, and thus we must petition for His judgement on the wicked... for it is judgement without mercy..
